Mirrors

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.
Hello Scout Motors, My question is does the side mirrors retract automatically when doors are closed , or do you have to close by hand. ?
Welcome to the community. We don’t have an answer yet as to what the mirrors will do. There’s been lots of requests for them to fold on locking, be able to fold when the vehicle is moving to make it easier to get into smaller spaces.

Welcome to the community!

On the topic of mirrors-will they be body colored, black or will the match the contrast rooftop color? Seems we’ve seen some variations in the prototype but wondering if any decisions have been made or have been narrowed?

I’m hoping they match the roof color. And speaking or roof color, I originally thought I wanted white. Now I don’t think I do. I see too many small Chevys and Bronco Sports with white roofs.

They could always do something extra-stupid like Toyota did with the FJ Cruiser and have a body color, a white roof and silver for the mirrors. :ROFLMAO:

@cyure Does your library o'pictures show any hints on the interior mirror buttons for folding mirrors?

In fact I was looking for that last night. This is what I have found so far.

So there’s the left and right and the knob, but then a graphic that looks to me like a mirror with a little arrow in it. Maybe somehow you use the knob to fold the mirrors?

Maybe when it's in neutral, you have control over folding the mirrors. Either way, I take that as intent to have power folding mirrors, but likely not automatic.

It very well could be in a setting. That’s what the Supra does. You setup what you want for each key fob and folding the mirrors on locking is one of the choices.

I'm fine with a setting like that being behind the screen, just seems odd to put the logo there. Maybe it's just advertising the feature on the show vehicles.

🤷‍♀️. This is one of those faith and patience things. At the price range of the Scouts I can’t believe we won’t be able to fold the mirrors with a button and a setting.

I mean.. why not? These are adventure vehicles, it would make sense to have a “manual” type control for when you need a little extra room, but when you park and exit they fold automatically to make extra room in tight parking spaces

Can't go by the concept vehicles. Not sure what the production folks have planned for this option.

Mirrors on concept vehicles are completely NON functional. So we will have to wait and see what they come up with for production.

Right now we completely remove the mirror heads to load into the transporter. It would be nice if they folded.

Thanks @CP1@scoutmotors for chiming in. Appreciate you.

Sometime it would be fun to see that process. Getting the concepts loaded on and off. I feel like it would be a Lightning McQueen in his semi situation. 😹

Ideal for me would be mirrors that can fold via motors under normal operations and mirrors that can be removed entirely within a few moments so I can take the Traveler through some of my favorite slot canyons. Those extra inches even while folded make for sketchy traversing of several trails that lead to amazing views.
