So, this has been bugging me since the dimensions came out, I’m hoping someone can clear up my confusion.
The traveler with without mirrors and 79.9 inches, while with mirrors it’s 91.6. One question, is the width “without mirrors” the same as the width with mirrors folded? Just eyeballing it looks like the fenders are the widest point except for the mirrors, and though the mirrors are pretty deep, the pivot point is such that when they’re folded, they probably don’t stick out wider than the fenders, but I can’t tell for sure. When the mirrors are extended, only part of them extends beyond the fenders for sure, but according to the dimensions, they would stick out almost 6 inches on each side. It seems like the mirrors would have to be awfully wide to stick out that much, so I’m wondering did somebody just calculate it by adding the width of the entire mirror times two and add it to the width without mirrors? Or do the mirrors really stick out that much farther when they’re extended and it’s really that wide from one mirror tip to the other?
By contrast, the Rivian R1S is 81.8” with mirrors folded and 87.1” with mirrors extended, which is a much smaller difference, and more like what I would expect. In Rivian‘s case, I can’t tell what the width is without mirrors at all just what it is when they’re folded.
Can anyone clear this up for me?
Thanks!
