  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

People that intend to use this vehicle to travel in need a more comfortable ride / interiors especially seats than someone that drives shorter distances and prefer a more rugged look. Suspension should be also ride adjustable as an option.

It has been mentioned that air suspension will be an option.

This is quite a challenge, at least it has been for my R1S Gen 2. The adjustable air suspension is VERY useful when off roading (and otherwise very cool), but it can be wonky, especially when the vehicle is just starting up.

There’s an other Rivian owner on here and he’s a good one to follow. He has the R1T. @R1TVT any ideas on this issue? Thanks!

Welcome to the community by the way!

A lot of your thoughts have been suggested and many have a lot of discussion. If you use the search button and key word search you’ll be able to catch up on a lot of discussions, many of which have feedback responses from SM so then you’ll know where things stand at the moment. Just a helpful hint since you just joined the forum. There’s over 2-1/2 years of great stuff and down right silly stuff too but the search button will definitely help you navigate the forum threads more easily

Hmmmmm. I just get in and drive (no "start-up" required, and no start-up with the suspension "starting"), so I'm not quite sure what this wonkiness is? We need more info.

Maybe the OP is referring to kneel mode, which is an option that I currently have disabled in my settings... I have used it, but I don't need it and I do 99% of my driving in "standard height".

i wonder if the wonkiness is related to letting air out of the air springs to lower the vehicle to exist or enter?

Apologies for the delayed response. Just for the record, I am a Rivian owner but VERY excited about the Scout. My OP was in reference to the question about whether adjusting air suspension was a desirable feature. It is, but in the case of my second generation R1S, I do put the vehicle in "kneel" mode at the end of the day, which does make it easier to get in and out. When it is in kneel mode (the lowest clearance from the ground possible), in the morning, when the vehicle "wakes" it takes some time for the suspension to behave normally. I happen to live in an area where there are some speed humps as I navigate to the highway, and from the time I get in to the time I hit the first speed hump, is about 3 minutes. When I do hit those bumps, the suspension is noticeably inferior -- meaning, even though it says on the dash that it has raised, the suspension is very "squishy" and creates a feeling almost as if the vehicle is bottoming out. On the way home, however, after I've been driving for 15 minutes, hitting those same speed humps is perfectly fine. I've been told by Rivian that this is "normal" because it takes some time for the air suspension to pressurize and stabilize. But it is odd to me that such an expensive car needs over 3 minutes to "warm up" in the morning (I think it would likely take closer to 5, but I've never tested it). Anywho, all I was trying to say is that the adjustable suspension is amazing for off-roading and other uses, but it is "wonky". Hope that helps clarify!

I would love to have an all cloth seat option. I am not fan of leather. Hot sticky in the summer, slick not easy to hold you in place and no give to it. This could make the ride more confortable.. I loved my old 86 chevy blazer with the cloth interior.

Thanks. I am super pumped about this product. I will be looking to get something the same time they are launching and this product fits exactly what I want! Thanks Scout !
Wonderful. I’m very excited as well. A good follow is @Jamie@ScoutMotors he keeps us updated from the manufacturer side. And the search function is very helpful. There’s 2-1/2 years of info on here. Have fun!

This is all very interesting. My '17 Grand Cherokee Hemi Trailhawk has adjustable height air suspension. There is an entry/exit mode which is the lowest setting, and I think 3 or 4 other settings up to Off Road II which is max ride height. It automatically lowers itself to entry/exit when put in park, and automatically raises itself back to normal mode when the vehicle is started and you're inside it with the door closed. Works great and has never really felt "wonky". That said, the adjustable ride height is nice but I feel like when I have the suspension in Off Road II mode for max ground clearance, the suspension is stiffer (because full airbags?) which is the opposite of what I want when off roading.

There's another ancillary feature, however, that Jeep did not do on purpose but it is a huge benefit of having adjustable air suspension - and that is hooking up a trailer. I manually put the suspension in entry/exit mode, back up until my hitch ball is under the trailer's coupler, then raise the air suspension to the highest setting. As the vehicle rises, the hitch ball couples with the trailer, and I just hop out, connect the chains and electric, flip up the drop leg, lock it and go. Takes all of 1 minute to do. Super convenient. I would actually opt for adjustable heigh air suspension just to be able to continue doing this lol.
