Luxury Pacific Mist

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.

Looking at the new color and thinking there could be a nice up scale Traveler. Pacific Mist, with the interior from the launch Terra, but instead of the black wheels and roof maybe use the grey/silver roof and mirrors and matching color wheels. Like an outer banks Bronco version of this. Clearly the G-Wagon and Defender show the potential of a luxury off roader and people will pay up for it.

Yes this interior would be very nice with the Pacific Mist exterior.

I know it’s a lot of choices for Scout to have, but I really do hope interior and exterior colors are not trim specific and we can really customize our scouts. That would be amazing.
I hate that. When we purchased my wife's pickup we wanted a Lariat to get keyless entry/keyless drive but it only offered one interior and it was leather that was so ugly not even a mother could love. We purchased a loaded XLT with the blue denim interior. She loves it.

My only concern @J Alynn & @cyure is production costs. Manufacturing seems to be a huge issue in the automotive world and what separates some brands apart from the pack in terms of success is how they handle manufacturing. Elon Musk said that’s a huge issue he had to figure out. I know adding a ton of customization slows down production so it may be an issue for Scout starting out.

I know I have the same concern. However, There’s nothing more annoying then building a car online and selecting an option and the pop up shows up saying if you make this change we are going to have to change trim or change something else. I’m hoping we get some good old American ingenuity and they can figure out a way to make it work.

At the very least please give me more than one interior for my paint or trim selection. You don't need to give ALL interiors, could probably satisfy most with three. Bottom line give us more choices.

I want ALL the choices so that I can build my ultimate Scout. However, I worry about driving up production costs because as I’ve said before - even at the presented price points we are above my budget. On the flip side, maybe if there were enough choices I could pick and choose to build a “budget” Scout to fit my needs/wants . I hope they work some miracles, but…yeah, probably can’t have the cake AND eat it.

With more choices that is possible. :)

Same concerns but what bugs me is knowing how reasonably simple it can be. Paint spray technology even 10-12 years ago is good enough to spray my truck red, yours right behind it blue and the next yellow. And automation (saw it during tour of BMW plant in SC) can pull the seats per vehicle and deliver them overhead-same thing-brown in mine, black in yours-so on an so forth. And if you have enough preorders before you start you know what you needs so to me color combo packages shouldn’t be packaged. And if Audi and Porsche can offer it under the VWAG then Scout should too. If it costs a couple $100 more I’m more than happy to eat that cost

A lot of the time when a new vehicle is first brought online they limit the trim and option offerings. I would like Scout to give us a generous amount of trim and options and if they find some take rates are low they can cut back. Not the other way around.

Now I have a question. If we are placing orders before production starts wouldn’t the know what the most popular trims/colors/options are?

In theory they should. But every sku adds time and cost from managing it so to simplify managing production many sku’s get lumped together but at the cost of buyers being happy. Happens in my world of Homebuilding as well. My world tends to be more about sequencing and having trades on site at various stages so it sorta works the same way with cars but doesn’t mean we have to agree with it.
Truth be told if I had to order tomorrow with the colors and interiors that have been shown I could make it work.
Was thinking today the new NYC interior on the traveler would look great with the Tahitian red exterior.

Yes, but.

The problem isn’t at vehicle order time.

The problem is today. What do the purchasing managers order (materials, expertise, processes, skills, etc) today to make sure that in 2.5 years they can build the vehicles that people *might* want to buy? How do they do that without incurring excessive costs?

Makes a great point. I’m sure via social channels and this forum surveys are helping gauge some of this as well as market tends hence planning to offer standard colors and common trims with some outliers. Love seeing the new concept options. Will be cool to see a mock configuration prior to order day we can play around with to help give them a better indicator of resource requirements.

I really hope not just for us on this forum of course, but SM as a whole especially the employees and their communities that these families of vehicles are extremely successful and can solidify the future of this heritage.

The automotive industry has been doing this for 60+ years. At the most basic level, you are armed with every feature and trim level every competitor offers, and the number of vehicles with those options that sell. We can also look at our reservation list for breakdowns at a high level. Beyond that, forecasting magic has to happen. In our case, we are spooling up a brand new factory and so we will start with a few simple build options and certain colors. Then we can expand offerings as production ramps up and quality remains strong. But there are always adjustments throughout the production year (called running changes).

Hmm. Now you have my question about how customizable these will be….

I really hope it’s like a free for all. And noon of the add 1 remove 3 type scam, you probably know what I’m talking about.
