Loaded Traveler with Harvester?

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.
I prefer women! I don’t know you well enough to say Lady 🤣. We joke about body counts in the frunk and digging equipment for our hobby together (we joke here-but WE know!). Just because you curtsy after you bury a body doesn’t necessarily make you a lady 🤣🤣🤣
This is definitely a candidate for two or more emojis!

While I never said I was a lady, I am most certainly a lady. Enjoy my userpic of Patricia from Widow’s Bay realizing what she’s been wearing on her head for the past couple of hours at Sunset Cocktails, which I feel is really a pretty accurate representation of my experience as an adult woman. 🤷‍♀️ Your mileage may vary.

I'm picturing the Scout more in the 4Runner to GMC Yukon price range. A nice TRD Pro 4R gets around $80k while a nice Yukon Elevation goes for similar money. For the OP's build, I'm expecting it to be around $80k, which is still $20k of options.

All this talk about not having dealers doesn't make me feel warm and fuzzy since manufacturers aren't some charity either. As evidenced by their high-priced launch models, they're going to make money where they can, especially if being pressured by their "investors" that are desperate for cash.

For the ladies and gentleman thing, is "you guys" still acceptable? After most of five decades in NC, my yankee roots still won't let me say "ya'll".

Same. I keep thinking of the same vehicle when I try to imagine the pricing spread on a Scout. So 4Runner starts around $45 and yeah goes to $75ish for a TRDPro. So $30k spread. So if the Scout starts at $59 that pushes the top trim to $89. Now I don’t think we need as many trims as the 4Runner. The new one with the regular and hybrid engines there’s 9 trims. That’s way too many. I agree that 3 is sufficient and then add a launch edition.

As for the other questions, I tend to go with “Hey All” or “Hey Peeps”, but “you guys” is fine, in my opinion. Appreciate the ask. Sometimes it’s hard being such a tiny group of women in such a male dominated group. I appreciate you all. Honestly when it comes down to it a lot of these future Scouts are going to be the “family car” and I’m glad SM is listening to us because if they pay attention to the needs/wants of women and moms they will sell even more.

Good questions for the ladies. I always presume and often say “you guys” as well but perhaps that is offensive and as a man I’m too dumb to realize it

I don’t want to speak to all the ladies on here, I’m used to that so it really doesn’t bother me. I also completely understand that I as a woman in a car forum am in the minority, I appreciate everyone being concerned about my feelings. 🥰

Okay back to the topic at hand. Now I have another question, honestly when don’t I.

So I just saw an ad for a Lexus that is getting a special green color and some special features and only 350 are coming to the US. Well we all know dealers will be able to charge whatever they want in that scenario.

So the Traveler launch edition, how much of a premium do we think that will be over the other 3 models and then how much would you be willing to pay for a launch edition? Also should the launch edition be only 1 color or should it be like the R2 where they have a launch edition and color, but you can pick any color for the launch edition.

Let’s say the launch edition was PBY (pale butter yellow for anyone new around these parts) I don’t know what I would do. Like if you could only get that color on the launch edition and it was loaded with a bunch of stuff I don’t need is the extra cost worth the color? I don’t know.

I’m still hoping my Scout savings in addition to my trade / sell value for my expedition will cover my new Scout.
That’s pretty much the whole drive behind the decision I make. If I can afford it, I’ll get the launch edition in some form of green. I’d really love to match the color of the’80 Scout II that I had, but if not, I’ll probably go Silo green…

Also are we going to get a launch edition for each iteration. Technically there could be 4.

I’d prefer a selection of maybe 4-6 colors but make one of the colors only available on the launch. Still allow some basics but those willing to go first, gamble and spend extra, make it unique to the limited quantity to the launch but not a set count. If they say 5000 launch and PBY is the special launch color it could be 4 or 5000 units in that color.

To every point that’s been made-the launch edition is a way to recoup cost so it will be limited and will come with a premium and likely be some form of a build that combines components so afterwards, others can’t just build to that same spec. Launch edition has to be uniquely done or no reason to pay a premium. The gotta have it first crowd will gladly overpay but that is typical and only so many people do that. So you do a mix of the off-road and mountainside features and in a color configuration (maybe interior details) that set it apart from any other configuration. Seems to the the way the game works and I suspect something similar

I agree with this completely. The launch I'm most familiar with is the R2 (probably because it's the most recent). That "launch" edition was basically launch green. You could get the same vehicle with different colors but the green is only available at launch and then it goes away. But the vehicle was spec'd out about as high as you can get for an R2. You could get difference colors of it, but if you wanted something no one else had, it was the "launch" color. If I had to guess, that's what I'd guess Scout does here. I think the initial "launch" model will be spec'd out about as high as you can go and it'll have a few options you can spec in and out (wheels and tires?), and have one color and maybe one interior that's specific to launch that eventually sunsets. That way if you don't like PBY (I can't imagine who that would be, but bear with me here), you can still buy a vehicle at launch, just not the "launch" edition. That's the case, and if Scout does that, they can just take my money now. But I'm not buying a vehicle if it's not in the color or have the interior I want. I'm guessing most people are like that. Scout would lose some serious sales, so that's why I expect them to offer something for everyone at launch even if it's not a "launch" edition.

And I’m hopeful any launch edition would also allow for roof choice.

And that’s another question, would a launch edition be with or without tire carrier or could you choose? Lots of questions.

I mean I’m happy to lend PBY to be used as a special color for 2028 models. I’m generous that way. 😹
