Limited tech integration

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scoutsâ„¢. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.

Music, phone, Maps and hands free texting great.
No Social Media, No video streams.
We have enough distracted drivers.
I ride motorcycle (Scout by the way😀). How many people on this have drifted out of lane or had small accidents due to not being able to put the phone down. Now think what if that accident was with a motorcycle bikers do dent bikers die.
Could you live with that.

Indian Motorcycle?

Usually, car infotainment systems lock out when driving. And only allow Music, phone, Maps and hands free texting. and then when you are parked or charging it allows for videos. I have never seen a social media popup though.

Sorry about rant just to many close calls lately.
Just reading through to many post of more things linked from phone to truck even when stopped.
Give me a key yes a key and let me drive.
For a laugh I’m a home integrator by trade it’s my job to make things easier and work together.
That being said Just because you can doesn’t mean you should.
If you read complaints on other EVs most of them are about glitchy tech stuff, not how it drives.

Last Rant promise🤣

This is less about tech integration, EV's or OEM's, and more about human behavior and taking responsibility behind the wheel in any vehicle, AND obeying your states distracted driver laws.

I'm sure we have all seen plenty of distracted drivers with smartphones stuck to a holder on the dash or window (or in their hands) playing videos. That is the real problem.

Also, and for safety reasons, OEM's limit native video feeds and streaming within the infotainment screen to vehicles placed in PARK. If you place the vehicle in DRIVE streaming will stop immediately.

You can’t get much more low-tech distracted driving than this:

I was almost hit by a distracted driver about 15 years ago. I was walking on the sidewalk along a road with a curve in it. Coming toward me was a car that would do a little weave every ten or twelve seconds. As they got close enough for me to see what was going on, I noticed that in the passenger seat was a music stand holding some sheet music and the driver, an old man, was playing a flute, reading music, and trying to drive all at once.

It’s not about tech.

It’s about people who don’t care about their impact on other people.

Had a co-worker used to read a book during his 40 minute commute. And a HS classmate that owns a telephone pole because her chewing gum fell from her mouth (chewing with moth closed would have prevented this) so she reached down to get it off the floor mat. People are dumb. And you can’t fix most of it-unfortunately!
