Interior Lighting for Traveler Rear

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.

I know the Terra gets lighting in the bed of the truck, but I haven't seen anything suggesting that there will be sources of light that would be in the back of the Traveler.

Suggestion: 3 Internal Light Bars. 2 which are on the left and right of the rear area, and 1 on the door which can be rotated inward and outward to provide light to the tailgate or behind the vehicle (Cooking / Campfire / Working Light). All 3 lights would be dimmable and there should be a switch for them just inside the rear hatch on the vertical column.

I recently discovered this company Kingpin Equipped and they were the one product that I never knew I needed until I had them. It's been a game changer for my truck cap and working on the tailgate of my Ranger. Having light that can be angled inward or outward for projects is honestly game changing, and putting the switches for those lights on the pillar just inside the wall mounted vertically (one button for the interior rails, and one for the tailgate) just feels so natural. I don't know I could go back to not having this setup. Kingpin's lights are also dimmable, as well which makes it nice for my wife who is really sensitive to light at night due to a astigmatism which causes all light sources at night to be sun bursts.

If this wouldn't be an included feature for Scout on release, having a place to tap into a wire harness in the rear would be greatly appreciated for accessories like this.

For anyone interested: I've had all 3 on at max power (which is around 800-1000 lumens or so) for 5 hours and the voltage on the battery only dropped around 0.3 volts. They're very energy efficient... so it's definitely something worth investing into.

Some very interesting lighting ideas. I just hope at the very least Scout gives us the ability to tap into vehicle 12v power, maybe in conjunction with those programmable utility switches.

There have been a few posts but nothing substantial and probably part of a different thread heading so good to bring up. I had suggested a brighter switchable LED perimeter on the inside of the upper liftgate so when up it would offer general overhead lighting but as task lighting goes I like your set up a lot. I probably would never need that amount of task lighting but it is super functional

I really like good lights on the inside of the lift gate. Some subtle lighting along the cargo area walls would be good. But it needs to not be on while driving so it’s doesn’t reflect on the windows at night. A good, removable flashlight back there would be cool.
