The off-road Traveler concept (Harvester) with a Rallye stripe. That is my dream Scout build right there! Really hope I have enough saved by the time they roll out of the factory.
I have confidence in you Colton. You seem like a very driven young man.The off-road Traveler concept (Harvester) with a Rallye stripe. That is my dream Scout build right there! Really hope I have enough saved by the time they roll out of the factory.
Yeah, see @R1TVT's post immediately above. Tall, wide tires will kill range. Having skinnier, shorter tires will be better for range. Less knobby tires will be better for range. Lower ride height will be better for range. My guess from other (ICE) vehicles is that 35s will likely net you 20-25% less range.
I usually have a second set of more "capable" wheels and tires that I put on for specific use. Winter, off-roading, etc. I usually run with the long-range wheels & tires until I have a use for the shorter range ones.
If you don't have the space, most tire shops will store your tires for free if you pay to have them mounted. You don't need two sets of wheels.
For me, pizza cutters are 8" wide or even less. I want the heavy duty light truck tires, but they're difficult to find these days.
This is a great video about Pizza Cutters.
Kenda released a 35X10.50R17 R/T recently. A few friends run them and love them.
I think tire tread will have more impact that size. The 35’s on my TRX are considerably quieter than the 31” tires on my wife’s Colorado ZR2.They will also sing to you so loudly. You'll notice road noise a lot more because there's no engine noise (unless you get the Harvester). The total noise volume will be lower, but new noises will dominate.
Probably not feasible for how heavy these will be. If they were made the sidewalls would be so thick that the ride would be miserable. For me, pizza cutters are 8" wide or even less. I want the heavy duty light truck tires, but they're difficult to find these days.
It's not. But I can keep dreaming.Probably not feasible for how heavy these will be. If they were made the sidewalls would be so thick that the tide would be miserable.
Yup, I run 35x10.5 Kendas and love them.

Interesting experiment, and I found his integrity refreshing.

For noise, yes, you’re right, tread has the biggest impact. The 35s seen on the Scout concepts will be loud. I’ll stick with less aggressive tread for quieter travel.I think tire tread will have more impact that size. The 35’s on my TRX are considerably quieter than the 31” tires on my wife’s Colorado ZR2.
In fact, the stock 35 Goodyear Territory Wrangler was considerably louder than the General Grabber A/Tx I put on a few thousand miles ago.
It would be really nice if in addition to pictures when we go to place our order we also got sound recordings. Tires. Roof rack. Etc.For noise, yes, you’re right, tread has the biggest impact. The 35s seen on the Scout concepts will be loud. I’ll stick with less aggressive tread for quieter travel.
That’s an interesting idea. I definitely want the roof rack but want to drive one to hear the sound. We drove the Lexus GX550 and the rack on there tester looked awesome but was crazy loud. (To the point the dealer said they were pulling it off as it was turning buyers off). I hope that isn’t the case with the scouts. Especially knowing I want the cabana tooIt would be really nice if in addition to pictures when we go to place our order we also got sound recordings. Tires. Roof rack. Etc.
Honestly that’s why you see Wranglers with the brackets for a light bar and no bar installed. Whistles. I was going to get one but it takes me forever to research and once I found that out that’s why I switched to A pillar lights. That’s an interesting idea. BFGs tend to be pretty quiet. The K03 displayed on the concept rollers are quieter than the K02 they replaced. For noise, yes, you’re right, tread has the biggest impact. The 35s seen on the Scout concepts will be loud. I’ll stick with less aggressive tread for quieter travel.
I guess it’s a matter of preference. I didn’t like the volume or the way the KO3s sounded on my Tacoma.BFGs tend to be pretty quiet. The K03 displayed on the concept rollers are quieter than the K02 they replaced.
I will honestly be surprised if they are significantly louder than highway tires.
That is totally fair.I guess it’s a matter of preference. I didn’t like the volume or the way the KO3s sounded on my Tacoma.
Agreed. And my Lightning has a lot more noise management than any previous vehicle I’ve owned. That is totally fair.
When I think of loud tires I am thinking about Super Swampers, Nitto Mud Terrains, Trepadors, Mickey Thompson Baja Claws, etc.
You cant turn the radio up enough when you’re road tripping with those
Hopefully they will have adequate sound deadening in there regardless of road noise. Toyotas can be tin cans since they skimp on that compared to their Lexus offroad vehicles.
