AgreedThey are really tricky and tedious.
My dad is an accomplished French chef, and when I asked him to make me some when I was younger he just laughed and told me to buy them instead. So dont feel too bad! lol

And the people who pick up their Scouts first need to document their trips home so we all know the good places to stop!If you do the factory delivery look for the road side shacks that sell everything from fruits/veggies to fireworks (the good stuff). I stopped at one on way home from BMW experience and bought a peach fritter (we have apple and blueberry in PA-usually like large donut size). The one in SC was the size of my face and then some. It sustained me for next 6 hours along with a fountain coke. I’m hoping I see another on the trip home from Scout delivery because my wife still doesn’t believe me to this day and that was almost 13 years ago at this point-damn time flies. Seems like just a few years ago
That’s a great idea. Hoping and praying for a very early delivery and then I will gladly document that tripAnd the people who pick up their Scouts first need to document their trips home so we all know the good places to stop!

Oh I love Daiso! There’s not one anywhere near me but when I was in Japan it was so much fun to poke around and see what was there. I brought back so much little cute stuff. I hope I get to go back one day! This reminds me of my occasional pilgrimages to the Mitsuwa Marketplace in Edgewater NJ when I want to easily smash my needs for Japanese fashion magazines, candy toys for my nieces, housewares, food court stuff, crepes, sesame ice cream, booze, produce, and groceries at once with a cooler to sustain the four-hour-drive home where hopefully nothing melts (in case I get something that can’t be had at the Japanese grocery stores here, which is also the point of going). There’s a Daiso that’s opened up since the last time I went a few years ago and that’s like the most exotic of all dollar stores.![]()
Yes! The only one I’ve been to is the one in Manhattan. They have all kinds of cute tchotchkes and useful things. Really good stationery section, too.Oh I love Daiso! If you ever get to go to Japan, go to a Tokyu Hands store. There are smaller versions and huge multi-floor department store versions. I got a bunch of pens from the smaller one close to my hotel, but I also went to one of the bigger ones and bought 3 fountain pens and 5 bottles of Iroshizuku ink. The ink is amazing - beautiful colors. And so many notebooks!Yes! The only one I’ve been to is the one in Manhattan. They have all kinds of cute tchotchkes and useful things. We have Wegmans our way and I think mid 90’s they were on track to become something similar but slowly morphed into just a premium grocery store. One of their original locations was in Corning NY and it was amazing. In part because of Corning inc which catered to clients from all over the world. Sunday mornings they had omelette stations and breakfast bar (and good restaurant quality) along with a wall with like 30 newspapers from around the world. Jungle Jim’s sounds like an adventure-may be worth a road tripTrader Joe’s is neat but has anyone heard of Jungle Jim’s? That’s worth a road trip! I believe it may also be the largest grocery store in the country.
Aisles for almost every country, completely themed, great bakery, gigantic wine and whiskey selections. About every kind of cheese you can think of.

My ex went to college in Rochester NY and would talk about Wegmans a lot. He was really excited when they showed up in MA. At first, I didn’t think they were a big deal, but they do carry some stuff that is not available in this region. It’s pretty neat. The problem is that we’ve got Market Basket which has a pretty loyal regional fanbase around here. “More For Ya Dollah.” I got a Market Basket action figure from an artist in New Hampshire who makes fun/weird action figures in limited quantities. We have Wegmans our way and I think mid 90’s they were on track to become something similar but slowly morphed into just a premium grocery store. That sounds really cool! Omelettes are certainly one of my favorites, and I love hearing about interesting stores like that. It’s great when staple stores like grocery or home goods are very unique. We have Wegmans our way and I think mid 90’s they were on track to become something similar but slowly morphed into just a premium grocery store.
