Aside from the old REO Speedwagon and old REO trucks, can't say that I have. Simple, gas-powered small trucks. Wonder if they've got legit funding.
Huh didn’t know they were owned by Volvo Group. They kept saying reliable engines but there is no mention of the engine they useAside from the old REO Speedwagon and old REO trucks, can't say that I have. Simple, gas-powered small trucks. Wonder if they've got legit funding.
Edit: Seems Volvo ended up with the REO rights, which means Geely basically has them, so a cheap Chinese vehicle, assembled from Chinese parts in Texas? Maybe I'm connecting the dots wrong.
Wow, the mileage is dismal. If nothing else it makes a Scout that much more desirable unless you must have removable parts (I tried harder this time with my grammar)Jeep Recon pricing and mileage is official.
Only a single trim (Moab). 33in tires, 9.1in of ground clearance, 100kwh battery, 28min 5-80% charge time.
$67k, and 222 mile range.

Jeep's off-road EV goes on sale for $67,000, but its range is a bit disappointing
Jeep’s first real off-road EV is finally here. The 2026 Jeep Recon EV is now on sale, starting at $67,000,...electrek.co
I'm sort of amazed how it can get only 9.1in of ground clearance with 33in tires. Subaru wilderness models have more, with smaller tires. And my Hyundai Tucson has 8.3in of ground clearance with zero offroad intentions/tire selections whatsoever.
Plus that efficiency is pretty brutal. I imagine the highway range will be... short.
It won't sell and somehow Stellantis will find a way for it to be the consumer's fault. We weren't ready for it, or we had range anxiety, or some such bs. They'll never look inward and say we designed a fugly vehicle with below average range and then charged too much money for it.Jeep Recon pricing and mileage is official.

And we all know Nobody stares down at their phones when crossing roads. I’d be curious how much is related to cell use and poor habits of pedestrians not paying attention-not that anyone deserves to be/get hit but I bet there’s a correlation for sure. But yeah-monster thick pillars add a lot of blindspots. They used to teach "look both ways" and now they teach "pedestrians have the right of way"...
Federal law mandated better rollover ratings for occupants, but to achieve this, the vehicle pillars need to be larger. You know what happens when you make A-pillars 10"+ thick?? You can't see crap in front of you approaching from the sides, including vehicles, pedestrians, cyclists, etc.
Like most government mandates, there are unintended consequences.
There were so many college kids jaywalking in town near the college they ramped up giving them tickets because so many of them were getting hurt. They got cranky but too bad.And we all know Nobody stares down at their phones when crossing roads. Pedestrians are the reason pop-up headlights and wedgy front ends went away. Car makers have come up with interesting solutions for pedestrian safety. For instance, the Lexus LC500 has explosive charges under the hood. In the event of a pedestrian collision, the charges detonate, lifting the hood up and reducing injury.![]()

I wonder if that’s the company I heard about today that’s putting pressure on SLATE.

I also think the Gravity looks too close to a minivan for anyone to get excited about. I think the Air looks nice - but to your point very expensive for a sedan. Especially when you can get the high-end Tesla Model 3 for ~$15k less than the base Air (not to mention legacy OEM offerings). I haven't compared them to see how different the features are, but $15k is a big hole to start with. They need something that costs $50K right now. Their cars are just too expensive.

Mentioning the herd, maybe these trucks will have to be equipped with cow kickers to throw the pedestrians to the side instead of the smash and run over maneuver. Is it like thinning the herd????

I stand by my many earlier statements that modern trucks are way too big. I’ll even double down on that with a punitive statement. Just how EVs are starting to incur extra fees from our fine elected governments, anyone driving a 3/4- 1 ton truck for personal use should have to pay an extra fee. They do just as much road damage as EVs and pollute 100% more. And for those about to roast me as woke I run a fleet of diesel trucks and own a Jeep Comanche.Gunstrucks don’t kill people, people kill people.
I love the air but honestly the difference between that and a Porsche panamera-if you aren’t in love with EV there are other choices for sure. We probably have 5 to 6 airs in my vicinity and I look everyone I see one. They are sharp looking but so priceyI also think the Gravity looks too close to a minivan for anyone to get excited about.
