Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.
If you have a priced D.O.R.A and V.O.C for an EV they are going to build it. I can't imagine them deciding to only build EREV the first year. I sure hope they don't.
I mean avoid BEV for year is likely to lose them buyers to other EV trucks New or Used, but personally I’m not about to invest in the harvester unless it gets better battery only range, and would very likely be pushed to getting another truck, I need something I can rely to work projects and not constantly rent a U-Haul. I’m all in scout right now, but if they only deliver EREV for an extended period of time. I can’t see myself waiting around on the other hand, though I don’t see that actually happening because as I’ve stated before, it’s very likely, a large number of reservations will fall through and not turned to pre-orders.

Here’s my hope. When it comes time to order I hope we have specs and pricing of both and a general timeline. So for those people who aren’t 100% in one camp or another we have all the info to make our decision.

I’m sure we will. It would be very strange if you could order one without knowing all of the information on both because people are interested in one the other or both. My very specific issue is if I’m seeing scouts on the road and they’re only producing harvester models I would most likely just move my money into getting myself a truck that is just as capable and that I don’t have to continue waiting for again, though as of right now I’m all in on scout and as long as I can place my pre-order and get it within a year of that order that’s perfectly fine but if scouts are rolling out and I’m still waiting a year and there’s not a single BEV on the roads, I will probably have to take my money elsewhere because all of this renting adds up, not just in terms of renting, but also the fuel that I have to buy for the vehicles I rent and they’re also not as capable as EV that can double as a worksite generator

Thought I read that EV's outsold ICE in Europe last year. So I guess they are saying car sales in general are dead, and ice is dead dead in Europe.

As for delaying the EV. I guess I can imagine 2 legitimate reasons for doing it (ok 3). Political - if they think based on midterms that the EV credit will come back in 2029. Economical, if they have reasons to believe that battery prices will drop like a rock. Technical, if they think a short delay will result in vastly superior batteries. But not making the simpler EV just because it has less reservations - well it is kind of like not making red, because more people purchase gray vehicles (which as a joke is a kind of Tesla thing-only make white because they sell better).

That’s my sentiments exactly. Make the initial adopters wait a year it’s like a slap in the face and with more EV SUVs coming on line they have to walk a fine line or they lose 15-20% of their profit potential.

Not sure it’s worth losing that many buyers/sales just to say EREV takes priority. Thats a 1/5th loss, if 85% of buyers commit they have to realize a good portion of them will have to wait due to quantity. Making them wait 4-6 weeks longer is tolerable. Making BEV res holders wait 6-12 months means lost sales. I also suspect if the midterms swing-and momentum is showing so, the tides may start turning again and BEV sales could increase.
It’s a tough spot for Scout to be in. But unless they flat out decide to kill pure BEV (which to me is a death blow) they have to accommodate both buyer pools and they need to get the BEVs out there as well to find the breaking points as well as the successes for future product lines.

Your words to God’s ears as my great aunt used to say

I realize this would never happen, but something like this would be amazing. As a kid, I pined for an Eagle SX/4 while others wanted mere exotic sports cars.

We ordered my wife's 2022 (First year) Maverick Hybrid on day one of ordering. At that time we already knew it would be a long wait. It took 14 months to arrive. Ford built them by order date. We even got emails showing the weekly build mix, Hybrid and ICE, as well as information on our specific vehicle every step of the process; build date to shipment. Yes it was worth the wait. Back then I had one of our two vehicles that I turned in about two months before it arrived. As it stands I will be turning in one of our current vehicle's at the end of 2027. 2029 might be pushing my patience.

Compact model. YES! But, I prefer that they make it more like the old 2 door 80.

I think you render is great. I think the vertical led zone is a bit too tall proportionally but overall that is a cool looking vehicle that I would consider. The orange accent lines and color are fantastic. Any chance you still have the prompts and could ask for a higher viewing line and open T-tops? That would be fantastic

That’s the hard part. And not a complaint but you’ve been here a year as have many others and everyone is becoming impatient. Then there’s those of us who have been here over 3 years so imagine how impatient we’ve become and then big changes being blurted out by the media but not expressed on here make us question if we’ve made the right decision to hang on this long. I think we’ve just hit a moment in the timeline where we are all very impatient and wanting answers without much from SM. The vehicles are being restyled but no idea when or where we will see them, no schedule for 2026 in person opportunities, articles about the state suing the contractor (or whatever is happening) now people are upset SM chose Charlotte NC as headquarters and many others what-ifs.
It may be a lot to ask but as eloquent as Scott is it would be nice to get a forum update of 2026 goals and what is the current timeline of vehicle types, realizing delays may happen but people wanting a BEV in early ‘28 may want to know if it will be ‘29 so they can make decisions. I know SM wants to hold people as long as possible but as a proclamation to be a more transparent vehicle manufacturer it would be nice to get something like a shareholders meeting to help guide all of us with our upcoming decision making when a new car may be needed and/or adding electrical changes for a charger, etc…
