Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.
I hope it’s Dana just for historical reasons.
True, they had the dana axles in them. The reason i think it’s gonna be ZF is because i believe VW has contracts and it will be easier to get the contract.

VW and ZF have been collaborating on making braking systems and transmission for VW EVs including those on the MEB platform.

ZF is a great company. I’ve had many vehicles with their components and all have been top notch.

BMW uses them a lot. pretty much every BMW has a ZF Tranny. Even the GR Supra uses ZF transmissions. And the Ineos Grenadier uses a ZF transmission.
Yep. I love it in our Supra. And it was really funny test driving that Grenadier and seeing that BMW shifter. The Grenadier and the Supra have the same engine as well.

Indeed my e30 has a ZF, all my wife’s X5s have had them, a former 2014 Grand Cherokee had one and am quite a few construction machines I deal with have ZF components.

I think they are all capable and will be curious who offers best pricing and d also wonder how tariffs play a role in whose numbers ultimately work the best. Pricing and contracting with suppliers in this current environment must be very exhausting for Scout. Multiple suppliers under consideration with their fixed cost then dealing with the tariff multipliers (so to speak) all the while wondering if the tariffs will change or disappear after 4 years only to be “stuck” with one supplier who is now less competitive due to the transports in/out of the country. I feel for their procurement teams right now let alone trying to make the best product/quality based decisions.

Not gonna lie on this but I think this is probably the best looking VW we have seen in a while. Besides the Atlas which I think is cool not as cool as Scout Obviously. But this gives VW golf vibes, with some Rivian mixed in. I think all the ID vehicles looks wack, but this one is what might crack VW back up in sales. But as usual everyone is entitled to their own opinions.

I’ve said I like it too. I like the buzz but the packaging and pricing is ridiculous but having been aware of cars in the very late 70’s and 80’s I have an appreciation of the original versions of those VW’s. If they could figure out how to make it a convertible like the old cabrio’s that would be killer

It would be pretty smart if VW offered a Retro style GTI using the Rivian R3X platform.
