Getting into defense is interesting. Germany currently has a couple options (and the will) to massively ramp up their defense spending with no harm to their other commitments to EU. I suppose that would mean sell or lease a factory (to Rheinmetal like they have talked about) and have the workers be cross trained?

That is not going to happen.![]()
Rivian spins out a new micromobility startup called Also with $105M from Eclipse | TechCrunch
Before RJ Scaringe founded Rivian in 2009, he had micromobility on his mind. More than a decade later, his musings took root in a small skunkworks programtechcrunch.com
Al least its sperate from Rivian, we don't need Rivian forgetting about Scout Motors.
It's going to fail, Rivian's are expensive at the moment, and these micromobility vehicles are going to be so expensive. That is not going to happen.
Not to be that guy, but this venture is explicitly aimed at making low-cost and affordable micromobiility E-Vehicles. Considering RJ's wording I would gather that these are aimed at a sub $6k price point for entry. It's going to fail, Rivian's are expensive at the moment, and these micromobility vehicles are going to be so expensive.
For me it’s the ability to have 35s and the spare and honestly the look of the whole thing. The R3x is the one I like out of the 3 new ones but it’s just to small and short. I like riding up high when I drive and the potholes in Illinois awful.I love the look of the R2 and the R3, but I want real door handles, physical buttons and repairability! That’s why I’m more interested in Scout.
are they talking like golf carts? Or actual street legal on the road? I mean my first car in the early 90s was a Suzuki Swift that was $6000 brand new but stuff like that just doesn’t exist anymore. Inexpensive things like that would however be very helpful to a lot of people. Not to be that guy, but this venture is explicitly aimed at making low-cost and affordable micromobiility E-Vehicles. That was his plan with Rivian at the start, was to have affordable vehicles. It didn't turn out that way, MSRP went from 70k to 90k.Not to be that guy, but this venture is explicitly aimed at making low-cost and affordable micromobiility E-Vehicles. Golf carts are becoming a huge market recently. For me it’s the ability to have 35s and the spare and honestly the look of the whole thing. The R3x is the one I like out of the 3 new ones but it’s just to small and short. I like riding up high when I drive and the potholes in Illinois awful.

Here in Florida golf carts are big. Four seat up eight seat, some even pull trailers that are extra seating when company comes to town. We have a four seat golf cart. We are close to the beach so we take the cart rather than carry the beach chairs, umbrella & cooler. Our dogs get a cart ride every night, they love it. I can maybe see the appeal of some of these micro-EV's.For me it’s the ability to have 35s and the spare and honestly the look of the whole thing. To get some perspective on how much things have improved check out the difference between the 2023 and 2024 ID.4. Note they kept the battery pack the same and simply installed this new motor...
Agree with your list…Utility trucks are easy to make city street legal and serve a lot of general purpose running around, too…we see a lot of these running around small towns.Golf carts are becoming a huge market recently.
My guesses are:
- E-Bikes
- Scooters
- Skateboards
- Maybe Golfcarts
Come on man have some faith in RJ. Let's not cast bad vibes on him or Rivian as we are all familyIt's going to fail, Rivian's are expensive at the moment, and these micromobility vehicles are going to be so expensive.
Im not I’m just saying that bro history is a bit nerve wracking. Im sure it will succeed with it being backed by Rivian and that it fits Rivians Outdoorsy movement.Come on man have some faith in RJ. Let's not cast bad vibes on him or Rivian as we are all family
