Is there any word on when interviews and hiring will begin for the positions at the new SC facility? Application announcements do not have a closing date on them and applicants were not given any estimated time when submitting through the job portal.

We have not begun interviews for most factory positions yet. There will be a marketing push when we start getting into the major hiring phase. Mostly likely in 2025. Is this for a currently open position?

Yes, specifically the Communications Specialist for the Production Center I imagine the Scout team will want to have internal communications in the initial stages of hiring, so hopefully that position will fill sooner than 2025?

That position is still open but I'm not sure what the status is. I'll try and find out.

That really depends of if the position is filled or if they are still talking to candidates. They usually close once the position is filled.

I am Chad Ambrose, and I am fortunately a Columbia proper resident, and have retired from 22 years active duty military.

My Golden Retriever and I would be happy to volunteer in nearly any way for Scout. Ideally a position would be great, but I do a lot of volunteer work and that is important to me, and I am not sure that Scout would have part time positions.

Please let me and other group members know of any opportunities to help Scout, as I believe the big picture this will give as much back to the greater Columbia area as any of the local military bases.

At the same time please acknowledge this post, as it’s strange when someone offers their talent free, and radio silence happens. Occasionally with volunteering that has happened, and it is kind of frustrating best case, or incendiary worst case.

I am sure I am not the only veteran volunteer that is excited about greater Columbia being the new Scout icon.
I personally believe that VW will do with Scout, what BMW did with Mini Cooper and have a very strong reputation and community. I would like to be a part of that, since I can’t buy one until at least 2026.

Please let me know if there is a way to help, and I can forward my resume, along with references to whoever may need it.

Thats a harsh comparison What BMW did for MINI. Look at what they did to us owners this year. That ugly duckling they made. Im sure its somewhere in my contract for working for BMW that we cant say stuff like this. But i have a-lot of mini owners come in where i work and people arent happy with the latest version. And i personally own a mini countryman 2019.

So if anything VW and Scout should learn from BMW that, The people want old-school with a modern twist on the interior. Not a full redesign. Like the 2025 MINI’s.

That may be your opinion of harsh and ugly, both subjective to the perspective and eye of the enthusiast. I had owned a 2005 Mini Cooper S, and 2006 JCW that were definitely vehicles with a "soul to the machine".

One of the main purposes of this forum is to solicit input from automotive enthusiasts, whether BMW, Jeep, Bronco, etc.

I feel that Mini Cooper has done a great job, especially early on, in emoting positive feelings of ownership of the vehicles they made. To me one of the things that was interesting about Mini was that it was so ugly.......it was cute. I was stationed in NYC at the time, and for a vehicle owner in a large metropolis that had the ability to actually have an ENJOYABLE commute with those vehicles was great. It was a fun having a small, highly communicative chassis, that wasn't a slacker in performance, had good MPG, and is still the king of small car cool.

Not everyone will be happy with the aesthetics of even the most well engineered vehicle, for example many Corvette purists were unhappy with a C8, till they drove one.

I believe that Scout Motors will have a "soul to the machine", and that there will be enough talent to carry the brand for a long time, where you feel that Mini has fell off.

Ideally Scout is in a unique position that as long as they have performance that beats a Jeep Wrangler or Ford Bronco, which isn't unrealistic, there will be a reasonably priced vehicle that people look forward to owning, driving, and tastefully customizing.

After all, NONE of the vehicles I mentioned are automotive appliances with as much enthusiasm as one would gain from owning a washing machine. Done right, nearly all the senses will be pleased; exhilarating performance, timeless silhouette, amplified motor noise as is done with EV's for auditory feedback, tactile harmony of rugged components, and it need not stop there.

If the price point beats Jeep and Bronco......again not unrealistic, since Jeep Wrangler in particular has been gouging customers well over MSRP as the norm for at least a generation. Many buyers that are actual enthusiasts.....and test drive a number of vehicles will be able to feel that in their senses, logical reasoning, and their finances.

I am very optimistic for what is to come with Scout Motors, and the South Carolina Midlands area. Hopefully, Scout can lead the way with interior materials such as mycelium, that are an obvious advantage, even if one isn't in favor of green textiles. Mycelium for dash surfaces/door panels can be engineered in any pattern, outperform many leather surrogates, and have harmony with the environment. It helps that MycoWorks is based in the same state for better logistical concerns as well.

Well stated. Funny you mentioned the Mini at this point. I’ve been seeing the pop up ads for the new style recently-in that exceptional celadon/soft mint green color. I stare at it and every time I start an internal debate as to whether or not I like it. The new interiors are great, albeit I wish any interior came with any trim package level but such is the game with auto manufacturers. Personally I always appreciated the originals-had a friend that owned one but DAMN they were small. Ironically for me, I like the 1st gen remakes, like they used in the ‘Italian Job’.
The bright tangerine with white top has been my favorite since the day they offered it. Had my wife not seen one crushed on the side of I-95 I probably would have one.
That all said, I think the 2025 model is a solid evolution in the look of mini. I think the new design changes show evolution but I think it also make the car feel “mini” again in size and that’s a good thing. I’m anxious to see the 2025 on the road- my closest dealer is an hour from me so until people start buying locally I’ll have to wait.
I like the healthy debates on this forum and it shows as mentioned we are all car/truck enthuiasts on this forum-in particular towards the Scout.

1) I drove past the production center lot and it is massive! Like a scene from Dune right now, but the progress is very exciting! I can't wait! (Hopefully the hurricane season isn't holding things up)

2) Are there any updates for the currently-posted, open positions *cough* Communications Specialist *cough* as far as timeline and whether applicants should reapply?
