Analog Scout?

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.

I don't know if this would be feasible, but I think the following would be extremely popular...

Scout Model A (Analog)
  • 100% Analog - no computer chips
  • Gas or Electric if possible
  • Gas model has a modern carburetor instead of fuel injection
  • Traditional Gauges
  • Easily repaired without computer diagnostic equipment
  • Independent from electronic supply chain issues
  • Impossible to hack into electronically
  • Impervious to an EM disturbances

I would love a completely rubbered or quality plastic interior floor or a system that can snap in and cover the carpet. kids are gross and it get stuff beyond the floor matt area.
I respectfully disagree about the basic truck, I’m in it for the bells and whistles, but do agree with you about flooring. I hate carpet in my house and I’m not too fond of it in cars either. Ineos is also a chemical company and the plastic floor in the Grenadier is an Ineos made product. It was really cool and would be easy to clean and it was a fun color the one I saw. Not just black. If there was an option like that for the Scout that would be great. Also the Grenadier has a rail system option on the floor in the back that you can hook things too. That would be fun and allow for more accessories that could be attached to the actual interior of the vehicle. First aid kit. Storage, etc.

Agree to disagree. I think there are a lot of people out there that are just plane priced out of the EV market because they are only top tier luxury versions of what ever car that has been made electric. An F150 lightening is what 20k (?) more than the equivalent IC. regardless, i hope i either get rich or they come down in price.

Most of the advanced features are software, and while the R&D was expensive, the production costs are negligible, stripping them out doesn't meaningfully reduce production costs.

So the only way to really take production costs out of EVs, is to cut the Battery down.

Since range is critical to most people, this means we are stuck with higher priced EVs, especially for big inefficient vehicles like full size pickup trucks, that need relatively massive batteries for the range.

If people want more affordable EV's in the near term, they have to downsize to where vehicles are more efficient, and can get away with much smaller batteries.

Ford is reportedly developing an EV Maverick, which would have a much smaller battery and thus much lower price vs the F150 Lightning.

Actually, given how rapidly EVs depreciate - lightly used EVs offer excellent value. You can get a sub 30,000 mile AWD Mach-E Premium for less than 30k. That's a lot of car for that price - and no new ICE car upto 40k will match it in features and acceleration.

So here you go. It’s not completely analog (truthfully it’s fully restos with airbags, etc…-so I was told by my buddy who sent me the link
It’s a bargain at $168K.

I like a lot of your thoughts on this, I would love to see scout make a "Ranch Model" with nothing fancy, bare minimum electronics, still electric, they could be road legal but really intended for use on Farms and Ranches or Off roading. One thing that gets me with Tesla is the over focus on complexity, why does my car need to drive itself? I understand people wanting that but lets make that an add on lol. anyways kinda getting away from your post sorry.
