Actual delay official and order of deliveries confirmed?

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scoutsâ„¢. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.

The biggest hurdle I see with Scout is price. The Lightning showed that few people are willing to pay more for a less capable EV truck.

I think that it's a real possibility that by the time you can actually buy a Scout (my guess mid 2028?) Scout will not be competitive price-wise. I hope I am wrong.

I think TFL hit a lot of points everyone is thinking about:

…yah they hit many of the points we’re addressing. I’m not sure I like the Scout/Buzz comparison- one thing all the talking heads miss is how the dealers helped botched the rollout. I had some interest in it but that was extinguished when the 40k over MSRP numbers were bouncing around. I left and didn’t come back…

The video title also calls. Both vehicles Terra.. that’s enough to dissuade me from listening to their opinions. They have made interesting videos that I have enjoyed watching in the past, but especially with electric vehicles in the past couple years it feels like they really enjoy complaining.

The Buzz (in one format or another) was teased by VW for more than a decade before they apparently got serious about it. Automotive press made a bunch of guesses that created speculation - then VW missed the boat completely by delivering what they thought people needed rather than what they wanted or were expecting. In one respect - I appreciate that. I have never really did a harder 180 with my interest in a vehicle. It went from a hard want to a no way in hell. Missing the mark by less would have actually forced me to still consider it.

Not to mention VW dealers ruined a lot of interest with markups, very similar to what ford dealers did with the lightning. Then they mostly ordered solid colors, grey, black, white. Which people didn’t care for, to point VW was subsidizing some dealers to get them wrapped to be two tone

See people want color in their lives!

Agree. And yet somehow the Bronco sparked enough that 100’s of people paid well over invoice. That always blew my mind

…yes, I suspect that was part of it. If you’re going to launch a nostalgia vehicle you need to capture the appeal of the original. White on white doesn’t do that…

Times have changed - and it was a very long time ago that I got to be neck deep in a car dealers accounting books. The dealer add on's were where all the gravy was then. Lots of dealers where selling at prices based on invoice. Even at invoice, there was money to be made on the back side due to dealer intensives - but the dealer add on's... Hell, even the AC was often a dealer add on - and those went on the invoice including dealer profit. A $5 pinstripe was on the invoice at several hundred dollars. $10 of under spray - $500. Scotchguard, tint, stereo - if it could be shipped as a dealer add on, it was.

Maybe VW forced the dealerships to get white - but I would not put it past dealers for ordering them because wraps are a great dealer add on.

There's no denying that dealerships do things that they can charge extra for. However, dealers also will buy vehicles they think will sell that don't cost extra money. That's why they don't hold a lot of vibrantly colored vehicles on the lot even though the manufacturers sell them because people are more likely to buy a black or white vehicle that cost less over a habanero red that cost an extra $2000. So standard dealership practices within the US would be to order a single color black, white or gray vehicle cuz it's going to sell more to the mass market than a orange and white vehicle. At least that's what dealerships think
