  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

We own EVs. Ask Us Anything.

I am doing the same with 2 teenagers in the house. In the Summer it works fine in Heat Pump Only mode. In the winter I have to put it on High Demand Mode (uses both the heat pump and resistive electric) because the recovery time is too slow (garage is colder so less heat to move) since...

    Cab Bench Seat feature!

I'm leaning heavily towards bench. I occasionally need 6 seats and that's what I have now, albeit spread over 3 rows. I agree with your list: wireless phone pad, cupholders, USB ports, compartment (I don't need it to lock - if someone is able to get into the vehicle the armrest lock won't...

Actual delay official and order of deliveries confirmed?

There are no 500-mile EPA range vehicles on the horizon. For the iX3, BMW is claiming 500 miles WLTP which is 400 miles EPA. While that is impressive, the iX3 is a compact SUV. It would take a large battery (which means large cost) to push a full size SUV or pickup 400 miles - this is just...

We own EVs. Ask Us Anything.

Just a cautionary note, you really need to look at your electricity rate tariff. With my state/utility, there are rate tiers. The price is X/kWh up to so many kWh per month. In the summer, each kWh above that is a higher price. So if the EV pushed you into a higher price tier the cost may be...

We own EVs. Ask Us Anything.

It completely depends on your local electric rates (tariffs). Most people don't pay much attention to them. Some providers charge you more per kWh the more you use (usage tiers). In that case your bill may spike quite a lot as the EV will put you into a higher tier. My utility, PSO (owned by...

We own EVs. Ask Us Anything.

With all due respect, your view is in the minority. Tesla SCs have the best uptime and availability stats of any charging network by a WIDE margin. Can they be cumbersome for some vehicles based on their charge port location? Yes. Tesla SCs were originally designed only for Teslas. The V4...

    Higher Range

You are funny. You have never owned an EV. I would bet you've never even driven an EV. Yet with zero knowledge of the industry you claim to have discovered some long lost secret battery chemistry that every single manufacturer missed. You are like those people who claim that Chevron bought...

We own EVs. Ask Us Anything.

Tesla drivers do this because every 2 plugs share a cabinet so charge rate is cut in half if both are used. You will see the plugs/stalls labelled 1A, 1B, 2A, 2B, etc.

Actual delay official and order of deliveries confirmed?

While cuteness is in the eye of the beholder, the Chevy Bolt is a fantastic compact EV. Proven tech, reliable, solid range, and a good price.

If this chemistry is such a slam dunk, where are these models today? I've been driving EVs for 16 years now and let me tell you, when I think EV technology leaders I think Honda and Mitsubishi. Actually, no one thinks that..... I find it hilarious that you keep calling me unserious when...

Heat Pump / Pure BEV / Winter Performance (and Battery Chemistry)

I would never buy an EV without a heat pump. If you want to go down a rabbit hole, dig around on Tesla's octo-valve. It allows them to scavenge heat from the motors, inverters, battery pack, even the coolant pumps themselves and send it where it's needed. I was concerned that this would be a...

    Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

I think you'll find it's FCA/Stellantis hate. I had a TJ and loved it. Needed something bigger so bought a KJ CRD. Engine was garbage on that but replaced it with a WK CRD and that vehicle is outstanding. Jeep chassis/AWD system with Mercedes diesel is an outstanding combo. Since...

Don't let the Scout become a status symbol; why $60k misses the point of the Revival

I think you're missing something critical here and that is that the addition of the Harvester also greatly expands Scout's TAM (Total Addressable Market). So if the extra $1.2B allows them to sell a lot more vehicles then it's a good investment to grow the company and not a direct cost that...

    Brake pedal behavior: Preference?

Just a random bit of info, in EVs, the brake lights are activated based on deceleration rate, not the method of deceleration. So regen above a certain threshold will activate the brake lights. Not sure if that's in the FMVSS explicitly but everyone seems to do it. So, unfortunately, you will...

Hmm. Maybe. They have a test for them! Maybe someone could put them under a microscope.

We own EVs. Ask Us Anything.

Just to add some color to Logan's thoughts. No issue at all with rapid acceleration, other than eating tires. What damages Li-Ion packs is heat. Above 104F begins causing permanent damage. This is why laptops, phones, and other devices batteries don't last - they have poor thermal...

We own EVs. Ask Us Anything.

After Tesla failed to make an EV transmission work back in 2008 (and it wasn't just them, Borg Warner spent a ton of time and energy working with them on it) I had given up on the idea. I was shocked and impressed that Porsche was able to do it. We'll have to see if others go this route. I am...

    Offering diesel

This is a solved problem. Chevy worked it all out with the Volt back in the day. The car will automatically run the engine periodically to keep everything exercised and lubricated. I would avoid ethanol fuel and if you're really worried you can toss some Stabil into the tank when you fill up...

I'm all for geeking out on new tech and the industry may very well move to this chemistry. But I am telling you that this tech is WAY too new for Scout to use in their immediately planned products. I still think that you are rooted in the world of software that can be patched after it is...
