  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

It's very quick and easy to use an adapter.

    Gate/parking fees

Being my middle-aged self, I barely trust my phone manufacturer with payment information security, and don’t trust my automobile manufacturer at all.

    Gate/parking fees

I can imagine scammers putting QR codes on their vehicles and pulling funds from your car while in traffic. I don’t want any kind of payment to happen without purposeful interaction from me.

    CYURE GOES TO NATIONALS!!! Yay!!!

I don’t know the original reason. But the pockets in the photos are too short to properly hold the common-sizes of ~11x15. With those pockets, the atlas will fold over and the binding (staples, usually) will fail.

    CYURE GOES TO NATIONALS!!! Yay!!!

You know what would be fantastic to have in the seat backs (or somewhere else)? A way to store Road and Recreation Atlases (Rand McNally, National Geographic, etc, etc) in an easy-to-access way. The pockets on most trucks are too short to properly hold an atlas or two. I store mine under the...

    CCS and NACS

The 2026 Leaf will have NACS (the DC only version) and J1772 (AC only) charge ports. It will not have CCS1. https://usa.nissannews.com/en-US/releases/2026-nissan-leaf-press-kit

What is one feature you hope Scout will include that has not yet been shown?

The Jeep rental we had in Hawaii used a combination lock canister with a faraday bag inside the center console. Nobody was there to meet us, so the Jeep wasn’t locked. We opened it up, found the canister, unlocked it with the code that was emailed to us, and drove off. We did the reverse when we...

Real world EREV/PHEV Towing, Offroad, and Range Testing

I doubt BYD even bothered much with the Lightning. I think they’ve evolved well beyond the US auto manufacturer industry; we’re very far behind, especially in EVs.

    CYURE GOES TO NATIONALS!!! Yay!!!

Nice photo. It shows there’s a fascinating little detail on the bed wall that I haven’t noticed before. I bet this helps improve the coefficient of drag. It will also be a great place for red dust to collect while visiting our national parks (if they’re not sold off). I realize that the bed...

    New Battery By 24M Technologies

I agree that Forscan is great. I use it all the time. I just wish some things were exposed in the vehicle's UI instead of being hidden. I wouldn't give up Forscan, though. And I hope Scout does include all OBD2 interface for more user adjustments.

I think you’ll also need Scout to provide a way to update the speedometer and odometer to get accurate speed and distance. I believe Rivian offers a tire setting. I don’t know if it’s limited to the tires they sell on the stock vehicle or if you can enter an arbitrary 3-figure tire size (275 70...

I do! Well, it takes a few extra minutes, but I usually run with a set of all-seasons for the non-snow months and then a set of snow&ice for the snow season. I haven’t bothered since we got the EVs, though. The winter performance of the tires isn’t as good as snow&ice, but the traction control...

    CYURE GOES TO NATIONALS!!! Yay!!!

We had a K-5 when I was a kid. It didn’t have the chrome grill. My dad bought it with the intent of replacing or augmenting the Chevrolet C-60, but it suffered from what many IH trucks of that era suffered from: a weak, unreliable engine. The engine failed shortly after we got it. My younger...

    E-brake

Both the Lightning and Mustang have a parking pawl built into the rear motor gearboxes. I believe parking brakes are required by federal regulations, but I’m not 100% certain of that.

This is brilliant! In this mode, they don’t just have a 360-degree view, they have a 3/4 spherical view and just overlay the outline of the truck and its tires into that view. So you can not only see the rocks around the truck, but also under the truck. If Scout hasn’t already been taking...

    New Battery By 24M Technologies

I don’t understand form over function. I do understand that people respond to it, though. At conferences where I have to wear a suit, I usually remove my fancy shoes as soon as I can and put on my comfortable shoes. I can’t walk 50 miles in dress shoes, but I can walk 50 miles in Vibram...

    New Battery By 24M Technologies

:P Nobody said you can’t get the 35s. It would just be nice if the manufacturer did the work to find a set of wheels and tires that they also offer that provide a maximum-ish range. My guess (based on other wheel/tire combos on other vehicles) is that the 35s will cut your range by ~20%...

    New Battery By 24M Technologies

Even a 10% improvement over the common truck/SUV drag numbers would be a huge win. The Lightning has a lot of drag in the underbody. I don’t know, but I bet a better underbody design could save 5-10% on its drag coefficient. For the Lightning Extended Range, 10% improvement in drag is 32-ish...

    New Battery By 24M Technologies

They’ve delivered it to be tested by the battery manufacturers. Those anodes still have to go through qualifications of being useable in a battery module and then in a battery, even before they can be tested in a vehicle. They’re at the “here are some battery components for the battery...

    New Battery By 24M Technologies

I think we should consider China operating 20+ years ahead of us here in the US when it comes to EVs. The tech they’re testing and putting into production is the stuff our scientists and engineers are having fever dreams about and wondering if it’s possible. We won’t see their best technology...
