  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.

High level use case - full time camper topper

I'm confused - tons of GFC campers have solar and they already sell a kit. And its an accessory to an accessory company, since GFC isn't making proprietary solar panels but they are instead accommodating them in their designs...

    Mothball Mode

I hear you. Perhaps my experience is more relevant to Scout in this case, based on the OTA experience that I have had from Rivian (in a modern EV truck). I have never had any issues with any OTA's, but Rivian has not failed, discontinued service or stopped making OTA updates. Some OTA's do...

    Mothball Mode

A lot of updates and new modes can also come with OTA's, so if there are little niche things like this that aren't initially written into the SW and U/I, they can also be added... It's suprising how much better my R1T has gotten as it has aged (with OTA's)!!! Huge benefit that many will be...

    Harvester towing

Pretty sure that the roof faring is concealing the upper deck of the in-law suite. Let's make that optional.

    Mothball Mode

Rivian created a mode for mothballing and shipping... With the currently planned feature set, we will likely see modes to accommodate w wide range of use-cases like this:

Scout ain't your grandmammies Chevy Volt... What a strange comparison. Also, you don't go charging up long hills with depleted batteries, same way you don't go charging up long hills with no gas in your ICE tank.

Do You Want Your Scout To Have A Hands-Free Driving System?

And we have come full circle back to post #9 on this thread~! ;-)

Do You Want Your Scout To Have A Hands-Free Driving System?

That depends on the vehicle and the SW, but this is a good overview that talks about current and new platform for 2nd gen vehicles... Looks like the new / smaller R2 will be launching with hands-free and more autonomy, but the focus is to be "trusted" not to be first when it comes to certain...

Scout Traveler SUV Green Off-Road Concept

LOL. If you are going downhill with regen you could actually be producing more energy than your battery can physically accept. Steep grades with a trailer will "push" so much energy so fast that regen can become limited with heat, or if there is the potential to run out of battery capacity based...

Scout Traveler SUV Green Off-Road Concept

I have never run out of range or had to be towed. I think the lowest SOC I ever hit was around 4 or 5%. You can also drive more slowly and preserve range if you feel like you are in danger. Out of Spec has some long and quite boring range tests you can watch. Its pretty hard to hit safe mode and...

Scout Traveler SUV Green Off-Road Concept

This is very true! Estimates can also be updated in real-time based on things like current consumption, weather, altitude, etc. When you see that you have "50%" of your battery, or that you have "150 miles of range" sitting in your driveway - that is an estimate based on normal conditions...

Scout Traveler SUV Green Off-Road Concept

Correct, this is a more expensive and complex system than any traditional shock/strut/coil-over/leaf type set-up... That is one of the trade-offs that comes with all of the cool functionality you get!

Scout Traveler SUV Green Off-Road Concept

That is tough to answer and usually would not involve replacing an entire system. You may need to replace one air spring for example, then factor in current labor rates for the specific work required. This may be helpful in terms of getting an overview of how the system works: Might also...

    Harvester towing

Sorry you are misinterpreting what I am saying - I'm basically saying what Jaimie just stated above. - Everyone has a trailer that weighs a different amount - Whatever the final tow rating is for the Scout (Harvester or pure BEV) will be the final number - There are tradeoffs to consider for...

Scout Traveler SUV Green Off-Road Concept

Right, but that was also in the context of the severe abuse that suspensions can take off-road. I believe you stated you were not planning to take your truck off-road, so in that case I might want to have the added comfort of air (since it will take a lot less abuse on-road) AND will provide...

Scout Traveler SUV Green Off-Road Concept

Every R1T and R1S comes with air (and the associated features like Camp Mode or Off-road Mode), so it's not a line item on the configurator. Also, these systems aren't as easy to service, so part of the expense I was referring to (in addition to parts) would be having to pay out of pocket for...

It really doesn't matter. And that was hyperbole anyway. Lets wait and see what comes with production.

Do You Want Your Scout To Have A Hands-Free Driving System?

There is a very BIG difference between driver assistance systems and FSD or Autopilot... Driver assistance is basically table stakes for all new entrants and pre-existing OEM's. There is no mandate to use it if your vehicle has it. Scout is very smart in offering a Driver Assistance feature -...

Scout Traveler SUV Green Off-Road Concept

This is pretty awesome --> https://stories.rivian.com/software-update-camping I can see this being part of Scout's off-road package "optioning" when configuring your truck, BUT I can also see a lot of off-roaders wanting a less complicated, and easier to repair suspension design (without...
