  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.

    Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

After what happened in the SC legislative hearing and as I stated before, I will not be buying any car from a SC dealership in the future. I'll go to another state.

    Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

And just why should consumers be deprived of the opportunity to buy a highly desirable Scout Motors vehicle with great experience without dealers. I just can't get started on this DTC thing again...it drives me nuts.

    Welcome and Introductions!

Welcome! Out of curiosity, was your grandfather's International Dealership a car dealership or primarily an International tractor dealership? When my dad bought his Scout in the 60's, the locals bought their Scouts from a tractor supply, Boggs Tractor Supply. There was not a sales lot (mostly...

    Re-think Headlight Design

My firsts posts on this forum I went on a rant about the headlights not being round (retro). After settling in on this forum and better understanding the evolution and also just loving the entire looks of the Scout, I deleted those posts and came away from the "dark side". I am truly bought in...

    Dealership cartels - horror stories

My wife wanted to purchase a Prius shortly after they came out. The local dealership where I had bought my Sequoia didn't have any in stock so we decided to go to Georgia to see what the dealer had on their lot. There was not one that had the right options but the salesperson found one that was...

    Welcome and Introductions!

I didn't find it in the Scout Encyclopedia but did find it on BinderPlanet Forums and also mentioned on Scoutparts.com. I am guessing that there was a theory that the lug nuts on the drivers side would self loosen due to the direction of rotation on that side of the vehicle. I just did a quick...

    Welcome and Introductions!

That just reminded me...didn't the Scout 800 have some reverse threaded lugs? @cyure is that maybe something documented in the Scout Encyclopedia ? What I recall is when helping my dad change tires on his Scout, you had to remember which side had reverse threaded lugs.

    Welcome and Introductions!

Welcome HuddyBuddy! I was born in Charleston and lived in upstate SC most of my 67 years. I'm also excited that Scout Motors picked South Carolina. I wish our legislators were backing Scout Motors and the consumers rather than letting the dealerships fill their campaign pocket$. There is so much...

Scout Encyclopedia- Facts, facts and more facts.

I received my Scout Encyclopedia as a gift and just barely into the history so far. I hope to have some free time soon to dig deeper into it. What an awesome compilation of information for all to enjoy. Can't wait for the movie to come out! :ROFLMAO: This forum and the Scout Encyclopedia will...

    Gas/Electric

Welcome! The Search tool is your friend! The answer to your question is "kinda". The Harvester (generator) only charges the Scout battery. However, the Scout can be your power source when off-grid. Stick around and browse this forum. It is an excellent tool for learning what's to come with...

What Song Will You Play First in Your New Scout?

When I bought my Scout in 1979, it came with a 45 RPM record. Not sure why I kept it, but I enjoyed it at the time. The songs have actually been posted on YouTube. Maybe SM can include at the top of their playlist! :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Switching Harvester to All EV Model?

I originally reserved the harvester model primarily out of EV ignorance. I didn't see myself being ready for full EV anytime in the near future. This forum has helped me learn about the capabilities of the EV and learn from those who have actually experienced EVs. From this I have determined...

Are factory deliveries for reservation holders being considered?

Welcome to the forum from another upstate resident! Totally agree with this! So far, it is obvious the campaign money from car dealerships and SCADA (https://scada.org/about/) has a firm grip on our legislators.

    Scout as an EV

Not only is Scout making a comeback, but BEV's as well. There was an interesting article in National Geographic March 2025 about NYC's very first motorized taxicab service launched in 1897. The cars known as Electrobats.

    Scout as an EV

After hearing the new Scout was to be an EV, I was saddened, but the Harvester option was a bridge that took me to reserving the Traveler (Electric + Gas). A few weeks back I was on the fence about if that was the right choice (I knew I was allowed to change) however, now I am strongly leaning...

    Did this really happen?

The one in the background reminds me of my '79 Scout before I painted it to match my boat. On the sticker, the color was called Persimmon. Sometimes I wish I could easily revert back. This photo was taken March 1984... Wow, I'm old. Vintage Scout, vintage me! o_O:ROFLMAO:

    Blythewood Community Event

Thank you for sharing your experience! I hate I missed that opportunity. Maybe they'll have a "do over" or come a little closer to the upstate.
