  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    Battery Life Cycle

I've heard this song many times before, the proof is in the pudding otherwise it's just vapourware. We'll see if either company actually delivers on their promises since no other company has yet probably because of all the engineering challenges that have yet to be overcome that I mentioned...

    Battery Life Cycle

You're right in that most EVs haven't been around long enough to demonstrate a 20 year lifespan or whatever but there are more than a few "million mile" Teslas out there (mostly from taxi companies) so high milage EVs have at least proven to be a thing. @Jamie@ScoutMotors can correct me if I'm...

    Battery Life Cycle

Lithium-ion batteries have been working well in EVs for a decade and a half now so not sure how you can claim they aren't. I do agree that a fossil fuel range extender isn't a great idea because of all the complexity and maintenance etc - at least for me - which is why I ordered the BEV version...

    Battery Life Cycle

Solid state batteries are not the holy grail that the hype is making them out to be and they have yet to be proven in industry and outside of a lab. I don't expect to see solid state batteries in Scout EVs for at least the next decade or more and Scout has basically said that LFP and NCM (ie...

Deep Dive into EREV - Ramcharger vs Harvester?

Alex on Autos just did a great deep dive into the new Ramcharger and how it will work complete with numbers. I know we haven't received any detailed numbers from Scout on the Harvester drivetrain but we all live under the same laws of physics and the state of the technology is what it is so...

Range extender - please adjust spec to 250 miles of EV Range

I won't comment on the battery size thing because it sounds like you'd probably more than fine with the BEV version. I can answer your question on the downsides of minimal use of the harvester engine. I've owned plug-in hybrids in the past and happen to know a lot about gas engines from my...

    Potato Chip Flavors?

BBQ is usually my go to flavour, but I do like a good ketchup chip or all dressed chip. Irresistibles has a great smokey BBQ chip, that's probably my fav.

How Are Electric Vehicles Taxed in Your State?

I'm in Ontario so not a US state (and we never will be!) but we no longer pay any fees to register vehicles, gas or full electric. We used to have a $5,000 federal EV rebate but that program was popular and ran out of funds earlier this year so it's closed for now.

Who's "they"? Is there a "big lithium" I'm not aware of? lol From what I've seen over the past decade or so the BS around EVs has been flowing from one main direction. There's no "both sides" thing here.

Poll- What have you Reserved... Let's get a small idea of the take rates.

The battery will be smaller in the EREV but batteries aren't as expensive as they used to be and their prices keep falling every year. The EREV version requires a whole bunch more engineering because they have to figure out how to cram all the plumbing and whatnot to feed a combustion engine...

    MIT Climate Portal

We call that "biased research" or "propaganda" and it's not worth the paper it's written on. Actual research involves verifiable facts and peer reviews. Actual research can be repeated and tested independently. We call that the scientific method and it's how objective truth and facts are...

    MIT Climate Portal

You seem to have fallen for some common misconceptions about EVs so I'll try to clear some of them up here; while it is true that EVs do produce more emissions during their manufacture than a similar combustion vehicle, those extra emissions are more than overcome in the first year or two of...

The Price Gap Between EVs And ICE Cars Is Shrinking Fast

The battery replacement thing is a myth. There is no evidence that owners will ever need to replace the traction battery during the life of the vehicle at their own expense. In fact all the evidence is pointing to the batteries outlasting the actual vehicles themselves. EVs still have tires and...

The Price Gap Between EVs And ICE Cars Is Shrinking Fast

Even if you look at MSRPs, if you compare a lot of like-for-like vehicles EVs are either the same or in some cases cheaper than their gas or hybrid counterparts. Automakers try to obscure this by adding only certain packages or trims to EVs so you can get identically spec'd vehicles a lot of the...

We own EVs. Ask Us Anything.

That's a great question! My answer is no, I don't feel betrayed. For one, we have different incentives here in Canada and while I did benefit from them when I purchased my EVs they weren't the driving factor. Our incentives have run out here as well and I'm fine with that. Incentives are meant...

    All gas

This is why the big 3 lobbied so hard to get the snot tariffed out of the Chinese brands. Right now the best cheap EVs come from China and the legacy companies know that if we let those vehicles into our market they'll sell like hotcakes and make lifetime buyers out of the people that own them...

    All gas

@Jrgunn5150 is absolutely correct. As for EVs, there is not need for a change in battery technology, the technology has been good enough since 2012 and is improving at around 1% per year so if you're waiting for a huge jump in battery tech you're going to be waiting a long time. It's a mature...

Tarrifs on Canada. Would you still buy?

We will not be extorted into voting for a PM that the US approves of. We ALREADY HAVE A UNIFIED ECONOMY. There were no tariffs until the tangerine tyrant slapped them on for NO REASON! This whole situation is purely unprovoked aggression from the United States towards Canada. If your...

Tarrifs on Canada. Would you still buy?

We already have a free trade agreement with the United States. We've had free trade without tariffing each other for half a century now. Our leaders always try to work with the United States regardless of which party is in power on either side of the border. But when our closest ally and...
