  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.

    Paywall features

Its all about optionality and value for me. What is something worth? And if it is something like WiFi, and you don't want or need it, AND you can delete it without losing other features, then great. If the Terra had a reasonable subscription price for WiFi and it was bundled with other...

Updates - moving to every other month?

IMHO, there are likely way more reasons NOT to do this, than to do this (at least in my mind). Top of mind would be cost, additional engineering time, lack of brand uniformity, added complexity of configuration/ordering. Maybe, and with the addition of new DRL/LED configurations, at some...

    R2 Launch Watch

I wouldn't want to be stuck on the homestretch either! But I really don't see that as an issue for either an ICE or an EV vehicle if you are paying attention - especially with one short stop prior. But neither an ICE nor an EV will fix human behavior when someone stops paying attention...

    R2 Launch Watch

IMHO, if you are bummed about a 10 minute charging stop to reach your destination, you might never be happy with any EV. That stretch also has pretty good infrastructure. I've charged on that route from Philly through Delaware at Tesla, Rivian, WaWa EA, ChargePoint and chargers located in some...

    R2 Launch Watch

Just know that the faith part varies by any OEM. For example, Swedes are very literal, and if you run a gas Volvo to zero and it runs out of gas, well, then you know that "zero" means "zero" gas in that tank in Sweden. It will also mean "zero" gas left for you if you are driving that Volvo in...

    R2 Launch Watch

Arriving at zero can be winning if you are headed home and have a charger... I will go to the single digits on the return trip from any road trip knowing I can plug in upon arrival. Of course, if I am headed to a DCFC charger, I would aim for ~20% SOC.

What is one feature you hope Scout will include that has not yet been shown?

Towing capacity varies by configuration. Final towing and payload numbers for all models and configurations of the vehicles will be released closer to production, which is targeted to begin in 2027. Patience!!! LOL

What is the "Fox head"? Do you mean a FOX racing hitch cover? What do you to tow?

    Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

This is the case in many ways with industrial robotics and warehouse automation. Robots are replacing humans doing jobs that nobody wants to do anyway, and since those jobs are often tiresome, monotonous repetitive and sometimes dangerous, they also tend to have very high churn. Robots also use...

No doubt the efficiency gains are very real. I see most of the AI complaints as human problems - but people "blame AI" a lot. Certainly there are LLM's, algorithms, platforms, and models that are far superior to others (like anything). Regardless, someone (a human) still still needs to know...

I think bucketing AI into one category is like bucketing pick-up trucks into one category and skipping all the trim levels - especially when it comes to specific use cases within an actual business. My entire co. now runs on Claude Enterprise and Claude Code. We started with a pilot of Co-pilot...

    Retractable bed cover.

He lied. I also grew up a few miles from the OG Whaler and Zildjian Factory, and my dad owned a Whaler. So I know these things. LOL.

    Retractable bed cover.

The beam of a 16 foot Whaler is 6' 10" The only way you get a Whaler "in" a truck bed is diagonally on its side. LOL. But you could put a car in a Whaler: https://www.instagram.com/reels/DZdwibZhepZ/

I doubt people are looking to make tons of dough on flipping. Sometimes people just have to sell. Could be life events, moving, changed their minds, literally anything. But yes, this is also the mass market vehicle, so the upside would be lower.

    BMW iX3 and iX5 range

I'm guessing (given the timeline) that Scout will be incorporating as many things to drive efficiency as possible. We just don't have any production details or specs yet, but I get your point around utilizing the most effective sub-systems to drive efficiency (so long as they are well-tested &...
