  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.

    Define your lifestyle….

Lifestyle: Passionate Mountain biker/Outdoorsman, Father of an Active family (2 kids, Soccer, Mountain biking, hiking, camping) . I've also mentored a group of 15-18yr old boys for about 10 years, and get to take them (and other adult mentors/advisors) on outdoor adventures a few times...

    Regenerative braking

Ah, so I sort of misread this last night. On my Hyundai, Regen braking is on a scale from 0 - 4, with 0 being effectively none (like putting the clutch in on a manual transmission), and 4 being 1 pedal driving. It does have smoothly blended braking on the brake pedal, even with regen set to...

    Regenerative braking

I caught a ride to work with a buddy a while back. He has an F150 lightning. I usually don’t get carsick. But on the drive back home at night in rain… I had some inklings of it. I blame his light switch style throttle control as the root cause (literally was a stab, then Release, stab, then...

Coastal Vibes: The “Pacific Mist” Scout Traveler Concept

Oh, this is the first I've heard of this part. I've heard it will be available with/without it. But I somehow was under the understanding that the carrier would be user removeable/attachable. This just reenforces my desire to have multiple spare tire options (especially if underfloor isn't an...

What would you be willing to pay for a paint color?

Fundamentally, I really struggle with car companies charging more for different paint colors. Its probably a "me" problem because a new vehicle to me is a yuuuuuuge expense, and I'm already scraping the edge of my budget (or past it), and then being "nickel and dimed" for a different color...

Moab / Canyonlands NP / Arches NP trip in a Terra-like Electric Pickup (F-150 Lightning)

I’ve meant to ask you a few times. What are you using to generate the elevation profiles for your routes?

Week renting a Rivian R1S Quad motor

This is the exact reason that I didn't put a deposit down on the R2. I actually really like the R1S styling (R1T less so, doesn't work quite as well for me for some reason). I like the frunk, and its capabilities. Its even really close to the right size for us. But the decision to make...

    3rd row option

I have exactly 1 memory of a reverse seat station wagon. And Brian Regan summed it up excellently.

    SCOUT TRAVELER FAQ

@Jamie@ScoutMotors Like you said, I'm sure there will be some that just fill it with gas. But I think IMO, the real game changer, is when they see the difference in price to drive their daily commute/runabout stuff, if they're willing to try. In fact, it might be worth having something to...

    Jamie Vondruska On With ROMR

For those of us who haven't the time yet today, but still have the curiosity, what are the key learnings/new tidbits of information that was announced/discovered today? Is there a quick cliffnotes/bullet point list? Also, perhaps embarrassingly, I have no idea what ROMR Adventures is, other...

    Long distance EV towing video

Lol, this is great. Like when the old joke where the newspaper article reports "Breaking news, 50% of Children's test scores are BELOW AVERAGE".

Want a Scout. Don't want the Drama!

Same here. Even if I don't plan on selling, knowing the resale, does provide a sort of "safety net" for me. It might just be psychological for me. But I do like knowing that "if" I needed/wanted to, I'm not in a horrible position. I did just buy a new EV though (not lease). I know that...

    Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

FWIW, I think you’ll get more time between firing up the generator than you think. My PHEV can only go about 30 miles on a charge. But most of our ”typical” destinations are more like 5-10 miles away. And during the summer we can go months without firing up the gas engine. We did ~2200 miles...

    Harvester Option

We've had a PHEV for almost 4 years now, and we've loved it. It really is a great onramp to what driving an electric vehicle could be like. One 10,000 mile stint, we averaged 226mpg! (of course that was the year with no big road trips. Other years we've managed more like 60-80mpg). We've also...

    Harvester Option

Indeed it was. Funny fact. When my wife and I were engaged/newly married, I always joked with her/our other friends that "whenever we have kids, I don't want some girly diaper bag... I want a cool one, like the Yoda Backpack" (the one that thinkgeek made). So... one day I got a gift from my...

    Harvester Option

Yeah, the intestine pattern interior is icing on the cake. Its glorious. Not sure if you're into reading, but the Thrawn Trillogy by Timothy Zahn ( I have softback, and hardcover editions of this, and am sooo sad they didn't make this episodes 7/8/9), and "I Jedi" by Michael A Stackpole (If you...

Q: What is the internal temperature of a Tauntaun? A: "Luke warm" (Sorry, I had to, someone texted me this today, and it gave me a giggle. I used to be a HUGE Star Wars fan, until Disney destroyed it). And reminded me of the most hilarious piece of Star Wars merch. The Tauntaun...

    Scout Badges/Patches

I'd imagine that digital badges would be more like "videogame achievements". IE, you don't have to "do" anything (manual) to do them, you just get them when you do the requirement. And with GPS built in/onboard, it would be pretty easy to do something like "your vehicle entered the GPS...

    Long distance EV towing video

Agreed. Regular long distance towing is pretty uncommon. And the people that do it regularly, know what they need. And its not often a normal light duty truck. So its interesting to see how it went, but I'd also guess that "most" people wouldn't do that often, if ever. I used to tow frequently...

What is one feature you hope Scout will include that has not yet been shown?

FWIW, the Hyundai EV's (at least the ones I've been in) all feature an on/off button. Which means opening/closing the door won't turn anything on. But the app does allow you to have multiple presets for different climate remote start settings. So I have one for winter, one for summer, etc. And...
