  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

NASA hasn’t blown up a rocket on launch in 40 years. That happens every other launch attempt with the showman’s rockets.

    Reservation order

And if they use the rail system, some trains run faster than others, so deliveries to some closer places will simply take longer than deliveries to some farther places. There will be multiple transfers from train to truck to truck to delivery. If you take delivery at the factory, there may very...

I’m so excited for them. So glad everything went so well.

    Reservation order

I'm not convinced there a single line. If you were the 135,724th reservation, it's not impossible that you will be the 87,213th to get your vehicle because it happens to be one that can be built earlier in the queue.

A buddy of mine would love to own a Lucid Air. He’s leasing a Kia EV6 right now, and the lease ends in June. The residual on the EV6 is more than it would cost to buy a bottom-priced Air with the same number of miles on it.

Still saving for a Scout, too. After test driving a Rivian and Lucid, it's more clear than ever that Scout's approach to the UX will be superior even if they only pull off 75% of the tactile interface in the concepts. I hope (and expect) they nail the driving engineering too.

They don’t necessarily need to buy themselves out with cash. There are lots of other ways. But it may not matter. In 2023, the CA legislature made it nearly impossible for any new vehicle manufacturer to sell without dealerships, and that law is the basis for letting parts of the case in...

My guess/hope is that if Scout Motors loses enough cases to make DTC non-viable, they’ll buy themselves out of VWAG and go it alone without VWAG and especially without the dealership parasites.

CarScanner’s usefulness is mulit-fold. 1) You can use it in a sort of monitor mode so you can track things while you drive. This gives you a much better idea of some of the variables than the display on the vehicle. You can get an idea of what the charge curve looks like for your particular...

    Wheelchair complication: 😥

My guess is that you’ll have no trouble with the Scout Traveler as far as space is concerned. The Traveler seems to be about the same size as the 4Runner. The Tiguan has about 56 cubic feet of space behind the front row. The 4Runner has about 90 cubic feet of space behind the front row. But I...

Dealers won’t get my money either way. If I buy a Scout, it’ll be through direct sale. If I can’t do that, I’ll buy a used Scout through Carvana or I’ll suck up my dislike of Rivian’s war on physical interfaces and buy a used Rivian or a used Lucid Gravity. I’m entirely done with dealerships.

I use this OBD2 reader: https://www.obdlink.com/products/obdlink-mxp/ And the CarScanner app. State of Health is not (as far as I know) a mandated value; I don’t know if the Kia/Hyundai ecosystem has it easily accessible.

    R2 Launch Watch

Exactly. And you need a container that’s capable too. Apparently the R2 has three large modules. 256 cells each, 768 cells per pack. With the 4695 cell they are supposedly using, each cell has approximately 119 Wh/cell, giving a 91 kWh battery pack, nominal, probably less is actually usable by...

I should have noted. There are other ways to look at the future projection of the Mustang’s battery lifetime. The Mustang has 56,670 miles on it. According to EPA range, which isn’t too far off from our real-world highway range, we get about 312 miles per battery cycle. So 56,670 miles divided...

    R2 Launch Watch

As someone who frequently charges at DCFCs (we have done probably close to three or four hundred DCFCs), I have a complicated relationship with charge times. I want it to either be 2 minutes 20%-80% so I can charge, move the vehicle, and go do my walk, eat, restroom, etc. without blocking the...

I think there are several ways to answer that. First, consider the warranty for the drivetrain. Since there aren't any vehicles that can be directly compared with the Mustang BEV, I'll shift to the F-150. It has a 5-year, 60k mile drivetrain warranty. The Lightning has the standard...

Battery life… Why I’m not at all concerned. In general, batteries without thermal controls degrade fastest in the first couple of years or tens of cycles and then their degradation levels out over time with an asymptotic approach to some baseline lowest capacity. This degradation is also called...

It’s only in Europe. And even if it was in the US, I wouldn’t be able to buy it without a Fleet certification (I think it’s 5 commercial vehicles make a customer a fleet customer).
