  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    Lessons Learned on Range Anxiety

Let's even the score: https://www.sheetz.com/newsroom/article/sheetz-surpasses-2-million-electric-vehicle-charging-sessions ? One of the great thing about the Rivian RAN chargers is that they are completely independent and have done a good job (at least in the Northeast) of locating them in...

New Scout Video - Forging the Future Episode 1

Great video! Love seeing how these come to life.

    Lessons Learned on Range Anxiety

Yes, this is already a thing, and OTHER smart businesses are also installing chargers to draw people to other parts of their non-gas businesses. Uptake seems to be a little slower with the bigger O&G gas stations on the East Coast, although Shell claims to have 4000 US charging locations, and...

    Tailgate paint option

I have no problem with anything on the tailgate that makes it more ruggedized. With the action of pushing a tailgate up and down (and often with dirty hands or gloves or just plain old dust / dirt on the tailgate, it takes some serious abuse. Also, no matter how hard you try to avoid it, at some...

    GPS suggestions

Well, that shouldn't be a concern with OTA's, ACP and no dealers - particularly with the Rivian investment

What 16 Metro's Will Scout Launch?

Ironic that South Carolina is not on the list, but maybe Scout will help change that by the time the production starts rolling... Rivian does have a Service Center in Normal, at their factory, so that could eventually happen. I would guess that Charleston would be the first choice if Scout can...

    Lessons Learned on Range Anxiety

Just a small one, but as soon as I bought an electric mower, I bought everything else for the same battery pack - hedge trimmer, weed whacker, blower... So much better than anything corded or ICE! Love the electric around the house for yard work, and my mower now has lights. So much quieter!

What 16 Metro's Will Scout Launch?

    Did you say "dealer"? ?

    Off-Road EV

In the NE, and for me personally, my definition of "off-road" capability has much more to do with mud, sand/beach driving, snow, ice, rutted-out hills and Class IV mountain roads... (so ZERO rock-crawling for me too).

What 16 Metro's Will Scout Launch?

Another way to look at correlation for "potential locations" would be by EV sales, SUV/Truck sales and the existing density of DCFC and other charging infrastructure that exists today. Some of this infrastructure is representative of the tail wagging the dog, or the requirement for...

    GPS suggestions

With Apple CarPlay, Scout will have Apple and Waze as standard nav options (which is great), AND it looks like OnX is also available via Apple CarPlay? https://www.onxmaps.com/offroad/app/features/carplay I miss having Waze on the big screen (CarPlay is not available in the R1T), so I just...

    Off-Road EV

There are many other YT vids of Rivian Trucks and SUV's on more difficult trails out there - I stuck some links below, but the comments about being able to fix stuff if/when there is a problem (as well as the possibility of needing very specific parts) is something that does need to be...

List ONE thing you are most ? THANKFUL ? to see that Scout Motors incorporated

Thankful for a truck that should be as capable as the R1T, but with an EXTRA FOOT of bed space! ?

What 16 Metro's Will Scout Launch?

I would love to take delivery from the factory as an option, but I would also say that one of the more critical aspects for new Scout customers will be their relative proximity to the service center locations. Maybe by definition in this thread we are assuming that "launch" location = BOTH...

    Range and Competitiveness

EV trucks are EXCELLENT for towing, and even a range-reduced 350 number will make a lot of people that tow very happy. There are a $hit-ton of people that tow locally (me being one of them). They might tow utility trailers, trailers with motorcycles, horses, boats or snowmobiles or tow a trailer...

    Battery Life in Winter

They do, although they also have more EV's per capita than any other country. My response was tongue in cheek, because it doesn't matter what your location is when there is a snowstorm. An EV with summer tires will perform poorly in a snow storm and not "fare well", and an ICE vehicle with...

    Battery Life in Winter

Maybe we should ponder another question, and ask if any ICE vehicles were stuck in the nasty snowstorm?

    Battery Life in Winter

Probably the way all EV's in Norway fare every winter. LOL.

    Hood Tie-Downs

I hadn't really thought too much about the hood tie-downs, and I have never owned a vehicle that had hood tie-downs. Now that is is cold up north, I'm wondering if these could potentially be an option, or if they could be deleted as part of a cold-weather package? I can see those tie-downs...
