  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

Air Suspension vs. Coils - Long Term Durability vs. Real Capability

Sounds to me like they are saying that the electricity they used discharging 75% of the battery is equivalent to burning just 3 gallons of gas.

Air Suspension vs. Coils - Long Term Durability vs. Real Capability

I can see this being possible for Scout too: https://stories.rivian.com/r1s-first-production-ev-rubicon-trail Journey Details The Quad-Motor R1S that drove the trail was entirely stock, including its 34-inch Pirelli all-terrain tires. The only additional equipment was a set of steel rock...

Air Suspension vs. Coils - Long Term Durability vs. Real Capability

Got it, I was being more realistic about Scout's "overall" future customer base. If we are being honest, there will be a very small percentage of Scout owners that will specifically Rock Crawl their new Scouts, and an even smaller percentage that would consider voiding a warranty. I think many...

Air Suspension vs. Coils - Long Term Durability vs. Real Capability

You're hoping for the opposite of what? Sorry, trying to understand your point. Of course anyone willfully interested in voiding a warranty can do it, that's on them of course! Sounds like Scout will make modifications easy and likely support easy upgrades, but that may be very different from...

Air Suspension vs. Coils - Long Term Durability vs. Real Capability

*** This is important *** Comparing a STOCK production truck or SUV to a modified truck or SUV is a huge distinction. You also need to take into consideration that the main population of buyers are not willing to void a warranty on a $60,000+ EV truck out of the gate to crawl boulders. We...

Air Suspension vs. Coils - Long Term Durability vs. Real Capability

It does "look" gimmicky, and you could do some party tricks with it camping, but it allows you to perform a super tight radius turn off-road, so it is a trail assistance feature (like any feature you might use in specific off-road situations)...

Traveler vs. Terra - Targeted Technical Questions

When you say that they Terra will have an advantage, I'm not sure that it will have any advantage other than being able to take advantage of years of advanced Battery & BMS innovation in thermal management, HW & SW (since the trucks in the video have tech that will be at least 8 years old by the...

Chicago was the first place they showed off the kick-turn (upgraded tank turn) to the public actually: https://stories.rivian.com/r1-chicago-electric-joyride-2025#:~:text=This%20event%20was%20the%20first,and%20precisely%20rotate%20the%20vehicle.

Air Suspension vs. Coils - Long Term Durability vs. Real Capability

Hold up! Rivian has always touted their vehicles as highly capable / offroad vehicles. In fact, they offer an all-terrain package with tow hooks, A/T's, reinforced underbody shield, off-road modes (even a rock crawl mode & soft sand mode), and 4 motors if you want 'em. The Kick-Turn feature that...

    Possible competition?

I have no dog in the hunt. I would be bummed too, someone will fill the void (hopefully Scout). It has to be hard to have competing factions within the 4 walls of a public company that is purely driven on unit sales. The pressures must be immense based on the market realities for Ford. It is...

Air Suspension vs. Coils - Long Term Durability vs. Real Capability

Where are you getting this information? Sounds like pure speculation since I don't think power has been released and torque should be really good - particularly if combined / sw-tuned with a Rock-crawl mode. How much horsepower will Scout® vehicles produce? Updated over 4 months ago We’ll be...

    Possible competition?

I think I agree with Space here. Sends a pretty clear message (and a WRONG message around delivering innovation around a pure BEV truck if you don't have one). My buddy just bought a Lightning and I think he is pretty bummed about this news too.

What's the deal with software issues in many newer expensive EVs?

FWIW, one thing that I have found super helpful with all of the updates is the Rivian Stories site. Things like this make it much easier to keep up, are great reads and help owners understand how their vehicle is changing and how to take advantage of new features...

What's the deal with software issues in many newer expensive EVs?

Some things might be intentionally held back, other existing items are optimized & some (like the 2 new drive modes) might be built after the vehicle is delivered. Getting everything into a SW package immediately is a huge effort and massive lift (particularly in the case of Rivian with the...

What's the deal with software issues in many newer expensive EVs?

Yes, correct. And you can make changes to code within certain modules, like the BMS for example, to do things like improve efficiency based on certain parameters that could be measured and used as inputs (like ambient temp or battery temp, for example). You can combine configuration settings...

What's the deal with software issues in many newer expensive EVs?

If they had support for a Garmin watch, I might actually wear it. I got most of my launching out of my system back in 2022 during the first month of ownership LOL...

What's the deal with software issues in many newer expensive EVs?

Interesting. I have never posted on reddit regarding Rivian (or anything on reddit for that matter). Must be my alter ego A/I bot. I don't think everything is perfect in Rivian land. I try to describe the good and the bad. In fact, I described some very specific SW bugs I have experienced. What...

What's the deal with software issues in many newer expensive EVs?

    Rivian writes their own code.

What's the deal with software issues in many newer expensive EVs?

Is this from experience, or anecdotal? I have never had an OTA fail, or create 3 new issues all at once. There have been updates that include bug-fixes (like you would see with any new SW release), but usually the bugs are little things that happen in "rare cases". I think everyone here will be...
