  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

Scout Motors Needs to Rethink “Local” Service. Don't do the Tesla model.

Along the lines of this servicing discussion, I just experienced a clicking noise from the front-end of my R1T when driving slowly (either forward or backwards) with the wheel turned. I noticed it while parallel parking, and then just replicated it while backing into my driveway. The Rivian app...

    Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

I think the answer is that (as an OEM) you need to have spare parts straight out of the gate to avoid a glut of repair jobs and unnecessary expenses due to loaner vehicle availability and rental car costs. Rivian was extraordinarily challenged out of the gate given the timing of their debut...

Former Rivian R1S owner, almost twice. Can’t wait for the Scout

Honestly - the build quality and attention to detail of my 1st gen / launch edition R1T was better than any other truck I have owned, and as good as the Audi S-Line that I once owned (only VW Group product and "non-truck" I have owned in my life). Even Edmunds (only 3rd party consumer review...

With regard to body roll, no doubt that is a thing in fast, big, heavy vehicles... I just posted this video on another thread. This is why Rivian hired Charles Saunderson from McLaren, who is now back at McLaren as CTO:

Yes. I should have mentioned that - thanks

Motors, Control Arms and Ground Clearance

This is a pretty interesting video - This is how Rivian built their suspension to avoid roll and smooth out their ride, it's wild:

Motors, Control Arms and Ground Clearance

Since you are not planning on off-roading and keeping to the pavement, I would absolutely want to consider air suspension in a truck like the Scout (if offered as an option). It is really night and day compared to running a solid rear axle in terms of ride and comfort, and kneel mode is...

I think Rivian was "unapologetic" about the truck being an EV, but went about the whole project from the ground up, based upon a clean sheet of paper with the skateboard platform. Maybe a truck that screams EV was an off-shoot, but I don't believe that was really their aim (as an intention).

    0-60 times with harvester

Yeah, I guess the other thing I see is agility, handling, nimbleness, quickness into and out of turns, etc. I can't ever see a full sized pickup with a solid rear axle performing like the R1T performs - especially up something like Pike's peak. Rivian does have an advantage with the different...

    0-60 times with harvester

I see the R1T and the Terra being very different trucks. The sport & performance aspects of the Rivian, coupled with a lowered stance (and basically a Maclaren air suspension system) + 4 motors make it possible to perform ridiculous feats. The Scout Terra will be bigger, likely burlier and less...

Motors, Control Arms and Ground Clearance

Great point, maybe the title of this should have been a little different and included "solid rear axle" instead of control arms. Interested to see how the whole thing plays out, and where the ground clearance numbers wind up. Air is awesome, but expensive (and can involve expensive servicing...

2.6 seconds is insane, completely unnecessary and ONLY available with the "Cybertruck BEAST" model. For reference, BEAST pricing starts at $115K, and nobody is buying them. It also has a TRI-MOTOR The dual motor CT goes 0-60 in 4.1 (which is insanely quick for a truck), if you want to call the...

Motors, Control Arms and Ground Clearance

There's nothing to rust on the underbelly - the flat bottom that is exposed to the road is a carbon fiber composite material. The reinforced shield consists of layers of high strength steel, aluminum and carbon fiber. I added the reinforced underbody shield with the launch edition. I believe the...

Motors, Control Arms and Ground Clearance

Last night I was driving behind a Ford Lightning and realized how little ground clearance there is due to the motor and battery. The underbelly of the Lightning is rather unsightly, and has 8.4" of ground clearance. I'm not sure I would want to be driving this thing through some of the dirt...

    Rivian Tire Swap Function

If ICE cars could have a single single speed transmission (like Rivian, Tesla, Ford & BMW have used) I bet the would use it. But, they can't produce the torque. I think you have this backwards. ALL the EV's I have driven are way smoother than previous vehicles I have driven in ICE trucks with...
