Harvester Option

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.
We've had a PHEV for almost 4 years now, and we've loved it. It really is a great onramp to what driving an electric vehicle could be like.

One 10,000 mile stint, we averaged 226mpg!

(of course that was the year with no big road trips. Other years we've managed more like 60-80mpg).

We've also now purchased a BEV, and now we're trying to decide if we're brave enough to road trip it :). I'm sure you all will hear about it eventually :).

The EREV really does seem like the next evolution of a PHEV. And honestly what they had done first (I had conversations with a buddy who works in the industry about this over a decade ago, saying "why can't we do it more like trains, where the engines just provide electricity").
I can answer that question, because all engineers are like 15 years behind the normal human brain. lol.

I currently drive a plug-in hybrid and is the only way to go EV! Can drive all day on battery around town then go long distance with no battery range anxiety. It isn't hampered by extremely cold or hot weather. Get's excellent MPG without sacrificing power. Tell all my friends once they drive electric, they'll never go back!!!

Q: What is the internal temperature of a Tauntaun?

A: "Luke warm"

(Sorry, I had to, someone texted me this today, and it gave me a giggle. I used to be a HUGE Star Wars fan, until Disney destroyed it).

And reminded me of the most hilarious piece of Star Wars merch. The Tauntaun sleeping bag, with the lightsaber zipper pull :D.

I think the Bryce Howard Dallas productions weren’t bad. She is my celebrity crush though 🍑😍

Will be interesting to see what’s next for the Star Wars IP now that they ousted Kathleen Kennedy.

Maybe this will help you understand.
So, one of my decision points for BEV/EREV is a need for more details about the Harvester. Is there another thread with any actual details (besides the expected ranges)? I want to know things like where it will be, how large it will be, how much space will I lose? Is there any indication of SM using this "Horse" design? Is it a SM in-house design? When will a Harvester prototype exists (or does it?) My impression is the proto's are not actually EREV, even though the door is there. Am I wrong?

I'll keep searching through the thousands of comments, maybe I'll find a nugget...

I did watch this video and as fascinating as it was, I'm not too sure about a Renault produced engine :)

So far, we know it'll be a simple 4-cylinder, built in VW's Mexican Silao engine plant. Beyond that, very little info has been released, though a lot has been speculated on. It's going between the rear axle and the rear bumper with the fuel tank going in front of the rear axle.

The prototypes aren't using any production running gear, EV or EREV.

As far as the video, I've been pushing for a legit flat-4 engine from the beginning, but it doesn't seem like they're going that route.

I don't remember which threads this info is in, but Scout reps have mentioned a few tidbits:
  • The Traveler (SUV) and Terra (pickup) will use the same battery, engine, and fuel tank. The Terra has more space between the axles, but at least initially they will not take advantage of that space to provide more battery/fuel capacity.
  • It will use a naturally aspirated 4-cylinder engine. So, no turbo-charging or super-charging.
  • The engine will be behind the rear axle between the frame rails. This location means an under-body spare tire will not be available for the EREV, that space will be where the gas engine is.
  • The gas tank will be approximately 15-gallons and will be in front of the rear axle.
  • The air intake for the engine is tentatively going to be in the C-pillar. No other info was provided, so we don't know what this will look like.

Didn't jamie say its going to be scouts own version of the 4 banger they pick. Because they want it to be easy to maintenance, and for it to be strong.

I'll be highly pissed if they choose to go with a timing belt over a timing chain after talking about simple and easy-to-maintain.

I think the EA211 has a belt while the EA888 has a chain. If a chain means slightly noisier operation, I'm fine with the tradeoff.

I hope so. Then again, my 2006 Pathfinder had a chain. It exploded, luckily in my driveway, when my son started it up. Apparently there was a common problem of that generation with over-tensioned chains. Of course, I also had every single one of the known common problems. Radiator and transmission, soo.....
I really miss my 93 Pathfinder, even though it had a belt.

Always appreciated the chain on my 99.5 pathfinder. Little extra reassurance
