Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. I’m curious if anyone in this forum has any decent experience with a Prius the reason I’m asking is when we finally decide to swap out our vault, my partner wants a top-of-the-line Prius to replace it assuming they are incredibly similar I’ve never had any personal experience with a Prius and this forum seems fairly trustworthy so I wanted to ask here.

Third! It’s a third-generation (2015 model from back when I was married and our combined middle-class university salaries meant we could afford the top-of-the-line trim model and replace it every three years). It’s the most reliable car I’ve ever had. It’s not fast, it’s not attractive, and it rides low, but it is incredibly reliable. Things that suck: the stock tires, the breaks have had to be completely replaced every five years (that’s both a me thing and a “Boston loves to heavily season the streets with only the saltiest of salts for a delicious taste”) and the big battery will probably need to be replaced within the next couple of years if I don’t trade it in right quick (hurry the F up, Scout), but it went with me post-divorce and post-disability so I haven’t yet been able to afford replacing it. I have dinged it up a bit, and I drive with a heavy foot (compared to my ex), but it’s in great shape.

Thank you for the information as someone was no knowledge of the Prius and personally not a big fan of Toyota. I didn’t feel I was in the place to give an opinion and going on to various sub credits. It’s either you hate it or you’ll love it one way or the other so I figured asking in a forum completely unrelated to Toyota would be the fairest opinion I could get.

3,500 miles in 3 months. Loving this little donkey.

I’ve mastered 70mph power wheelies, and gotten extremely comfortable on it after a 2 years hiatus from riding.

This time in the saddle has sparked some memories and dreams I had when I first watched The Long Way Round and bought my first motorcycle.

I have been thinking about a crazy idea of taking a bath in the Arctic.

But if I am putting down big miles like that on a solo trip… I find myself at a crossroads.

Do I put a very expensive rally tower on an incredible dirt bike and ride it 9,000 miles to Prudhoe Bay Alaska, and make it less capable offroad?

….or buy this?

A much more comfortable mile munching missile.

The 2026 KTM 1390 Super Adventure R is the most power and capable offroad focused motorcycle to date.

173hp and 107ft-lbs of torque is absolutely nuts on dirtbike that weighs 550lbs.

It’s also one of the software defined adventure bikes to my knowledge.

KTM quietly built one of the first ADV motorcycles on the road with Android Automotive.

Android Automotive is a full fat operating system for vehicles. It’s the same software you’ll find on Volvos and Polestars.

It has a massive 8” touchscreen display, and while they haven’t mentioned it in any of their marketing material, it’s definitely going to get Gemini.

When I say Gemini I mean an actual on board AI. No phone necessary, but the crazy part to me is it will be integrated into the bikes CanBus system.

It also has a built in ESIM and GPS system that can download offline maps, which would be awesome when I am off grid and my phone is dead.

“Find me some premium fuel when I have around 20 miles of range left.”

“Change my ride mode to Rally when I hit dirt in Montana.”

“Disable Wheelie Control and play Careless Whisper by George Michael.”

It would make a long trip so much easier to just be able to talk to the bike and not feel around for buttons or fiddle with a phone on my handlebars.

Did I mention that it has 173hp?

Also has adaptive cruise and other creature comforts like heated seats and grips.

I think I am going to pick one up in November and head to Alaska in 2028 after some seat time and training on the new steed.

With Scouts not hitting the road until 2027 I should be able to swing both, but I think taking that little dip on two wheels would be a fun way to cleanse the body and mind.

I could probably do it on my 701 Enduro with just a few more modifications to mitigate wind and cold temperatures, but more power on the highway makes for higher smiles per gallon.

Thought it was my last bike but now you have me wanting this!!!

I mean.... I feel it's a pretty significant upgrade as far as the tech features go.

Key features:

  • The new unit allows apps to be streamed to the dashboard
  • Possibility to enable future Over-the-Air updates
  • 32 GB of Storage and 3 GB of RAM
  • IoT
  • eSim
  • GPS
  • Bluetooth
  • Wi-Fi
  • Android automotive operating system
  • Various input audio level control

The extra power would be nice too. They have added a mechanical camshaft phaser so you basically get "V-Tec" that kicks in in mid to upper RPMs and they also changed the cam profile to offer better power off idle, no now it makes more power everywhere in the RPM range.

The new phone cubby also has USB C charger built in and it's actually large enough for larger iPhones or Androids.

The switchgear is also all backlit now, which has been a complaint for a long time on those.

I think one of the biggest reasons to upgrade is that you can now service the air filter without removing the fuel tank.

I will help you wrap the new one if you want to do the ol switcheroo. lol

My 701 Enduro can come up in 6th gear without clutch if I get my timing right with preloading the front forks. Can't even imagine what you can do on a SuperDuke or SAR :oops:
