Former Rivian R1S owner, almost twice. Can’t wait for the Scout

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.
Amazing. I’m here less than a day and already had to block someone. It’s amazing because the tone and language remind me of a user on the Rivian forum who is demeaning, dismissive, and disrespectful of owners who vocalize their negative experiences with Rivian.

Gaslighting individuals stating they can’t possibly have such a bad experience and the issues they reported on were not as bad as they said they were is not a community benefit. Being a blind fanboy is not a benefit either, no matter what that user thinks.

I hope you never experience what I had to endure, or listen your wife sob uncontrollably driving home after a horrible experience trying to buy a $140k SUV from a manufacturer who clearly doesn’t give 2Fs about you.
I have had similar headaches as posted above, and it affected my business/income so it was more than just a disappointing customer service experience, but I hope you can find a place here if you are genuinely interested in Scouts.

You havent been here very long and are already stirring up some drama, but I am sure we can find some common ground and cooler heads can prevail.

There are a lot of really awesome people here that want Scout Motors to succeed so it can be advantageous to read the room and understand where other people are coming from too.

According to the OP they gave them another chance and struck out again. I don't have any experience w/ Rivian but from what I read they are following Tesla's playbook almost exactly. The early Teslas were all hand-built and perfect with Elon personally inspecting every car that went out the door. R1TVT has a Launch edition so it was likely in this category. Then later they needed to hit ever-increasing delivery targets so QA started getting rushed at the factory and they relied on service to fix any issues after delivery. They were delivering cars in truly sad states. When my number came up for my MXP I went in fully expecting to reject the car. I spent over 30 minutes crawling all over it, checking everything I could short of actually driving it. There was a slight misalignment of the rear hatch and the silk screening on the backup PRND bar had a scratch in it. Service solved both issues quickly and my car has been flawless.

Tesla software stability has also been up and down over the years (although I guess that applies to all tech these days....).

All that to say, I hope Scout is realistic in their delivery projections. I also hope they avoiding going public as long as they can as Wall Street is the one that sets these ridiculous targets and the company has no choice but to meet them in any way they can or face financial destruction.

This weekend resulted in a new 2026 BMW IX xdrive60 MSport. My wife is beyond thrilled and our lease is $500 less than our R1S with the same amount down.

Un-amazingly, the vehicle was delivered in perfect condition by a team of people who cared about us as individuals. This is precisely what buyers expect when spending north of $100k for any vehicle. (My wife had to talk me off the ledge for a second purchase on the same day as the sales team rolled a new M5 Touring Hybrid on the floor while we were going over the IX. PIC below for reference. Nearly dropped an additional $165K+ that day)

I really hope Scout will bring the A game to the EV market because I’ll be ready to spend my money yet again on another EV. Of course this is all provided the product is commensurate with the price.

That is one sweet ride. With great range. If you don't mind me asking. What color is it?

I love those M5 Tourings. They are gorgeous.

Congratulations! I bet dealerships are scrambling to sell their EVs this weekend before the rebate window closes.

Very impressive looking machine.

How do you feel about it so far?

I am not really familiar with BMWs, but I thought the 70 was the M Sport variant?

Is there an M Sport package you can add to the 60 model?

There is a M Sport add on for the 60 package.

The picture is of the M5 Touring Hybrid wagon, which I’m a sucker for fast wagons.

I previously owned an E63 AMG wagon and sold when I got near 100k miles. I never hated driving to work and we got thumbs up on a regular basis on the freeway.

While I miss the car, I couldn’t sleep at night with the fear of having to fork out 15k+ for an engine rebuild, if something were to go wrong.

The pic is of a M5 Touring. While I would have gladly adopted said wagon, my wife is the voice of reason in the family so another family will have to step up.

We leased the IX x60 MSport. HP is in the mid 500 range, with a max distance at 327 miles.

My wife still has yet to let me drive it… lol

Right on. I plead ignorance. I had thought the M versions were a specific trim and didn’t realize it was available as a package.

Fast wagons are a riot. Hope you can get another one someday.

I’m seriously hoping the Audi eTron S6 avant hits our shores. If you haven’t seen one, the design is stunning to say the least.

Yes. That is a very nice vehicle. However, the US seems to shy away from shooting-brakes and sport-backs. I would like to see that trend come back.
