What goodies have you gotten from a dealer/manufacturer after purchasing a car

I saw a Rivian Instagram post where they were unboxing what you get when purchasing the new quad motor and it got me thinking. What have I gotten from a dealer/manufacturer after purchasing a new vehicle? Some things I knew about when purchasing. Some things just showed up. I’m not talking floor mats. I mean goodies.

So the one we knew about at purchase. When you purchase a GR Supra you get a year membership in NASA and a free track day that includes driving instructions.

Things that just showed up that I wasn’t aware of at the time of purchase always seemed to come from BMW.

One BMW dealership sent me a plant after purchase. From a local florist.

And then I got two things from BMW the manufacturer that I had no idea about. They just showed up in the mail. Early 2000 BMW made a set of 8 short films called The Hire and each one featured a different one of their cars. After purchase I got a DVD set of the movies that just arrived one day.

And another BMW purchase I was sent a concept drawing of my car along with a nice description of the designer and the design language and I framed it and had it in my office as long as I had my car.

So what have you all gotten that was fun and unexpected or expected for that matter?

So what have you all gotten that was fun and unexpected or expected for that matter?

BMW I got the track delivery. They put me up the night before in a hotel, great breakfast, full day on track and lunch as part of purchase
-had a Nissan and they sent us a calendar with a photo of us at the car
-nice umbrella from Acura
-Bronco-pre purchase-a hammock, a cool artsy calendar, some concept renders and one other item but forget what it was-when we did order the Bronco it was for daughter and came in just before Xmas so dealer through in a t-shirt, knit hat and a nice Bronco ball cap
-Lexus-another nice umbrella

"Nitrogen" in my tires, green valve stem caps, and four locking lug nuts for $100 extra.

None of which I wanted or knew I would have to pay for. I am really looking forward to the end of dealerships.

Goodies from the dealer? Never heard of that! I’ve been a Kia driver for years. I drive the Telluride (love it) but I love the idea of the dual power plant system in the SUV. I love American-made and built. I totally like all the concepts of the buttons, “being connected”, etc. I’m not a big fan of electric historically, but I think the new Scout company is onto something here. I still have no idea what goodies from a dealer one could get. Also I love the prototype. I’d have mine like that!

Nothing free, just expensive junk that I would have preferred not to have installed before I got the vehicle.

Never got anything for free other than an ulcer and 4hrs of my life I'm never getting back everytime I had to go to a physical dealership to purchase a car. Would be nice to get a Scout Motors baseball cap and t-shirt at least, if someone's listening

So what have you all gotten that was fun and unexpected or expected for that matter?

The only time I've ever gotten anything interesting was when I purchased a car from an exotics dealer in Scottsdale. First off, walking around in their showroom was like being at Barrett-Jackson. It was filled with Ferraris, Lambos, RRs, Bentleys, a couple of MB SLR McLarens, a long row of McLaren models (including a P1 Hybrid), a bunch of Brabus vehicles, a Bugatti Veyron, a bunch of classic restomods, a couple of Hennessey Velociraptors and the list goes on.

My wife and I were treated to an incredible buffet and open bar lol and then sipped on our drinks while perusing everything in their stables. When it was later determined that the one key they gave me upon taking possession of our vehicle was the only one they had, they cut me a check for the $800 cost of a second key.

3 months later when I decided I wanted to remove the wrap they had put on the vehicle, they took it back and removed it complimentary and put me in a significantly more expensive loaner exotic for the weekend. While there for that, the sales rep asked me what I liked and didn't like about the vehicle we had purchased, and when I mentioned that we absolutely loved the vehicle but didn't care for the tires they had put on it, he asked me what tires I would have preferred, and then to my surprise, while they were removing the wrap they put a brand new set of my preferred tire on the car. I didn't expect that.

Otherwise, like most people, I hate car dealers and, unlike most people, I love negotiating, so I get enjoyment out of absolutely beating car dealers to death to squeeze every possible penny I can out of their profit. I consider one of my most accomplished car purchases when the sales team was relieved to finally get me into the finance guy's office, and I then talked him into letting me put the entire vehicle purchase on my Amex so I could get the points, which then paid for a couple of vacations. Perhaps because of that kind of thing, I don't get much in the way of freebies or goodies post sale.

From Ford and Ram I’ve gotten a couple hats. When I bought my 2016 Challenger Hellcat it came with a one day track experience at Bondurant in Arizona.

I never thought of that, in my decades of driving and 20+ vehicles I've only ever purchased a new vehicle twice - way back in 2001 when Toyota launched the 4 door Tacoma I ordered one through a broker. I got a 4 month wait and a relatively good price, which was nice.

And my current Hyundai, we were promised a Tesla style adaptor in the mail, but so far we haven't seen so much as an email about it. It's only been 8 months. We've also had zero need for it, but it would be nice to have for road trips, etc...

With my Scout? I'd like a pair of NICE branded travel mugs and/or water bottles. Any more than that and I might start wondering where my money went, but something that will last a long time, look good, and keep coffee warm/water cold would be cool.

Besides the multitude of key chains over the years, for my wife's Ford Maverick we received a Yeti water bottle painted the color of her truck. Built Ford Tough on one side Maverick on the other. A Ford fits kit. 3D printed accessories for the Maverick: The kit contains a trash bin, extra cup holders and a blue oval cable wrangler for the back of the center console, and dividers for the rear underseat storage. All in all some handy stuff.

when I bought my Audi in 2013 I was given two "VIP tickets" to a showing of Iron Man 3. Big oversized hardstock tickets.

Was pretty cool, they had rented out the theatre and had a red carpet and the whole lineup of new vehicles on display for people to check out.

A few vehicles have come with items. My experience with dealers after the sale has been rather negative. Even when items were negotiated with the sale, those negotiations were thrown out the window after initial delivery - or I declined after the price of them tripled.

The best I managed was on my last truck - I asked them to install a ranch hand bumper before I took delivery (I am very close to the Ranch Hand factory). They installed it, or had it installed. But it was done poorly enough that it took 3 months to fix my cruise control - all because a few bolts were not tightened back to spec. The bumper vibrated just enough to screw up the adaptive cruise sensor - which in turn disabled all the cruise control features. If the dealer had not been 20 miles from the Ranch Hand factory - I doubt they would have ever figured it out. They wasted thousands of dollars in parts first though - and months trying to fix stuff that was not broken, just not installed properly. The really sad part, I installed the bumper on my truck before it without a hitch in less than 1 hr.
