  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.

A fun tool to compare Traveler BEV vs. EREV routing

Rivian just had a couple of guys leave the Illinois factory in a pre-production R2 traveling Route 66. They were making short social media posts but unfortunately I haven’t seen a comprehensive write up.

We own EVs. Ask Us Anything.

Kinda depends on the EV and definitely depends on how much heat you’re running in the passenger compartment but at those temps I wouldn’t be surprised by a 30-40% range hit. Heated seats/steering wheel are negligible impact so the age-old EV cold weather tactic is run them full out and the heat...

Using an EV for backup power in case of power outage

I have the same setup, a 14-50 outlet mounted between the garage doors for my charger. During extended power outages I use that circuit as you describe with my gas generator. If my Rivians could put out 220V I could use them instead of the generator.

What feature(s) do you hope that Scout does NOT include?

Yeah, my “gas cap wouldn’t open” joke is about the Rivian motorized door. Classic example of just because you can motorize something doesn’t mean you should (along with their silly motorized HVAC vents). There were several actuator failures on the forums that all seemed to happen in the same...

What feature(s) do you hope that Scout does NOT include?

No powered charge door and no powered HVAC vents. Both are just unnecessary gimmicks that make our Rivians less convenient & more complicated to use. Having a powered charge door as a mission critical failure point is ridiculous. -Signed, An owner whose truck had to be towed 160 miles to a...

    Traveler 11/28/2025 Livestream

Can’t wait to see real vehicles in motion instead of all the CGI.

Is Die Hard a Christmas Movie?

My take is it’s at least as much a Christmas movie as “It’s A Wonderful Life” 😆

Is there anything that would make you switch from the BEV to the EREV?

I would also likely cancel rather than go EREV. We have no issues now driving our Rivians wherever we want to go so the gas part just isn’t a big attraction. No BEV Scout just means I will likely replace my R1T with a GM product or another Rivian.

Poll- What have you Reserved... Let's get a small idea of the take rates.

I have an early Rivian R1T and recently picked up an R1S for my wife. Have always been a big Scout fan so have “first few minutes” reservations for a BEV Traveler and a Harvester Terra. Really thinking the Traveler may be the replacement for my R1T as I’m not yet sold on a full size truck. Also...
