  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.

    The Start/Stop Button

30 seconds to push a button? Where’d that come from? My current car has a button and I have to pause maybe 1s after pushing it before putting it in gear and driving, so maybe 2s max (assuming it takes me a whole second to push it, which is generous). My old car didn’t even require the 1s...

I’d be good with your Audi Q6, is that on the table? :ROFLMAO:

“…pry the start/stop button from my cold dead hands” :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

    The Start/Stop Button

That’s probably fine. Again, I’m fine with reasonable ways for others to get what they’re looking for, I just don’t like unnecessarily forcing a preference on everybody when it’s easy to provide flexibility, e.g. EM doesn’t like buttons so let’s take away turn signals and wiper controls for...

    The Start/Stop Button

That is an algorithm. It’s a simple one, but it’s still in someone else’s control under what circumstances it goes on or off, and probably decided by someone in some committee meeting with lots of groupthink, and they’re never going to think of every situation. I’m fine with letting folks...

    The Start/Stop Button

I don’t want to be at the mercy of someone else’s algorithm to decide when I want my vehicle powered on or off, I want to decide and all I need is a button to turn it on or off. I’m fine if someone else wants to set it so it’s automatic and they don’t want to have to use the button, that’s...

    Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

For now, no. It’s got 4 strikes: tariffs, Americans not buying enough EVs (at least that’s the current perception), it’s small, and it’s totally cool! Ok, that last one may not be a reason it’s not coming, but it sure seems like it some days. Have to go to Mexico or Canada to get the cool new...

Design it to last 20 years

With all the stories of folks lovingly attached to their 50 year old Scouts, I expect they’ll be building the new ones to last at least a couple decades.

Design it to last 20 years

I would not say disposable, but some definitely are heavily weighted towards ease of manufacturing rather than repairability, which is part of why insurance companies seem quick to total EVs.

#4 Reservation spot for sale (?)

And it turns out his brother is a Nigerian prince and will let you in on a slick deal to help him transfer money…

We own EVs. Ask Us Anything.

I think the more accurate description is that there are specific, well defined technical definitions by the SAE of level 1, 2 and DCFC charging. Because English is a fluid and flexible language, some folks have used terms like level 3 to refer to DCFC, and still others have used level 4 to...

    Off-topic stuff…

And that, kids, is why we don’t use the metric system. A pound of anti-protons is over twice as safe as a kilogram! 🙃 🙃 🙃

Actual delay official and order of deliveries confirmed?

Yeah, it seems to be in our DNA going back millions of years - https://www.smithsonianmag.com/smart-news/these-wild-chimps-have-been-fighting-in-a-civil-war-for-nearly-a-decade-its-the-bloodiest-split-ever-seen-among-their-kind-180988527/ I suppose as long as we all agree about physical door...

We own EVs. Ask Us Anything.

Yes, front center or front passenger side makes the most sense to me. The only reason T uses rear driver side was because of the garage at the house EM happened to be renting around the time they were making that decision. Now everyone is stuck backing in to charge 🤦‍♂️🤯

    Brake pedal behavior: Preference?

Just to clarify, rav4 hybrid has blended brakes, so regen happens when you hit the brake pedal.
