  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

Post's passed about 8pm yesterday are missing

Unfortunately I had a brilliantly worded post that contained a beautiful solution to all our problems that would have brought tears of joy to everyone’s eyes, but now I can’t quite remember the details. #VogonConstructorFleet

Cost and Ease to Repair/Maintain the Traveler and Terra

Yeah, the big thing isn’t so much the details as it is the attitude, ie scout is supporting consumers and independent mechanics ability to fix things, which includes information and parts, as opposed to some unmentioned companies that will practically sue customers that do anything more than...

    Forum Migration to new servers

Ok, you can’t just leave that there without explanation. I’m picturing a high rise carved from a cliff…

What is one feature you hope Scout will include that has not yet been shown?

Looks like rear backup cameras are required since 2018 - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Backup_camera Not sure about blind spot warnings, still seems to be an option on many cars.

    Mirror, mirror…

So, this has been bugging me since the dimensions came out, I’m hoping someone can clear up my confusion. The traveler with without mirrors and 79.9 inches, while with mirrors it’s 91.6. One question, is the width “without mirrors” the same as the width with mirrors folded? Just eyeballing it...

    Potential completion - Telo

It is very hard to get a new car company up and running. Fortunately scout has 2 things going for it that most startups don’t: solid funding and serious automotive industry experience.

    Built-in hydraulic or electric jacks

Ah, not familiar with that term. The one I used had a hook that was a little bent, so just when you got it jacked up high enough to get the wheel off and on, it had a tendency to fail. Made for a literal balancing act to get it just right. Skilz!

    Built-in hydraulic or electric jacks

Brings back memories of using bumper jacks on 60s land yachts. And I still have all my limbs and digits! ?

    Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

Since they split off dodge (and ram) there’s barely anything left of Chrysler. They stopped making sedans, their trucks went with dodge and all they have left is 2 minivans. It’s pretty sad.

    Rearview Camera Monitor

Same here. Also when I move my head side to side to see wider, it doesn’t work. The one I tried in a Nissan ariya was highly impractical unless my view was otherwise blocked. And that’s assuming the camera lens is clean. No objection to an option, maybe with an easy switch, but I want a real...

Harvester generator gas and not diesel

I couldn’t easily confirm that info, but I expect that whichever 10 states you’re referring to comprise much more than one fifth of the country’s population. The largest state by population has no coal plants, and as of a couple years ago, only got a tiny amount of electricity from a couple...

    Limp Modes or Selective Disabling

“If you can't fly then run, if you can't run then walk, if you can't walk then crawl, but whatever you do you have to keep moving forward” - MLK jr I don’t mean to sound flippant, no disrespect intended, but this quote was too good to pass up in this context.

    Driving Distance Poll

I don’t think “aren’t passing any on to consumers” is really the right characterization. It’s more like “they might start making profit by the end of the year”. If they had passed their previous/current costs to consumers, they wouldn’t have stayed in business long enough to make any money, so...

Is this the first time we’ve actually seen the spare under the bed? Is this likely how the traveler without the swing arm would do it? Just curious.
