  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.

    Carplay unconfirmed?!

I've always resisted the rush to apps for everything - this is a great example why. Simple homelink buttons in the mirror, buttons for the seat heaters, buttons and knobs for the hvac system - that way nobody needs a pin to ask their car to ask their phone to ask their Google Home for...

    Try before you buy?

Hopefully they follow the Ineos model: Grenadier reservation holders were able to make reservations for off-highway test drives, held regionally. The closest one to me was about 100 miles away, I signed up, and would have happily made the drive but work called me away. And then escalating...

What would you be willing to pay for a paint color?

Very situationally specific for me - As a stand alone option, my limit is $0 unless I truly hate the "base" colors. But I have to weigh it against the cost of all the other options I'm going to want vs. my overall budget. I don't know what my overall budget is going to be in 2027/28 but if I...

    What was your first job?

I loved Burger Chef when I was in high school! It was the only fast food my town had, so lunch time meant loading as many kids as would fit into the back of a truck, driving insanely fast to get in line at "Burger Death", and then driving back, also insanely fast, just in time to be late for...

    What was your first job?

Man, I've had a lot of jobs First paying job? (chores didn't pay at my house, they just got done...) Cleaning horse stalls and dog kennels for a neighbor on Sunday afternoons. After church I would make the 2-3 mile walk to their house, clean the stalls, rake the corral, clean the dog kennels...

Factory Pick Up - Cost and what does it include?

YES to this! Many, many years ago I did the Bridgestone Ice Driving school in Steamboat -even as a life long Colorado snow driver I learned a ton, but at the end of the day the instructors took groups of 3 out for "hot laps" on the same course we had been practicing on all day. They were all...

Help me decide BEV or EREV

I feel this post on a deep level - when the kids were little we made the Denver-Tucson loop many times, 14 hours or so of driving time. Denver to Ely (the MN one, not NV) = 2 10-12 hour days. Grand Canyon, Jackson Hole, Park City - the list goes one, we did all the Griswold stuff. I've done...

We own EVs. Ask Us Anything.

Here in Colorado the drop is dramatic in the fall when they reintroduce "winter" gas, I see a range drop in my Xterra very close to what you're seeing, I go from 320ish per tank down to around 280 Here's some real world data from yesterday, to explain why I said earlier that for normal driving...

We own EVs. Ask Us Anything.

Two opinions for you - from the comfy confines of Colorado, where winter has, so far, taken some time off... 1) Range reduction doesn't matter, as has been said, you won't be driving far enough to notice the difference. Crank the heat, turn up the seats and steering wheel, and focus on safe...

Joining the EV gang while waiting for Scout!

Congrats @SaraLiz - we did exactly the same thing but a year ago, ended up with a white SEL. 13 months in I can tell you this is the best car we've ever owned, and helped me switch my Scout reservation to BEV - Here's what we've learned in a year: We assumed we would need a Level 2 charger...

    Favorite road tripping snack

It's something to see, they opened one in Colorado a couple years ago and I've stopped in a few times - it's basically a love-child between Walmart and Circle K, but with clean bathrooms

    Favorite road tripping snack

My road trip behavior has changed as I've aged (matured?) Back in the day: Smart Food and a diet coke from a fountain - no Pepsi, no cans. Now I've found I like getting out of the car every few hours, and I don't like Smart Food cheese-product dust all over everything, so while I don't have a...

    Thoughts on Factory 37s

Wait - I forgot what we were talking about... Oh yeah, 37s... too big for me, but I'm loving the looks with 35s. I squeezed 33's onto my Xterra with very minimal mods (just changing the shape of the fender liner slightly) and other than feeling a bit slower off the line, have had no...

Current EV owners…are you staying BEV or switching to Harvester?

Yeah, 11 degree (f) today - BEV is quietly charging in the garage, when we need to go somewhere it will be nearly full and instantly warm and cozy...

Current EV owners…are you staying BEV or switching to Harvester?

My 2cents, for what it's worth: Almost one full year into our BEV "test" vehicle, an Ioniq5 - switched my reservation from Harvester to BEV within a couple months of owning the Hyundai, and have no desire to switch back. Our use case is probably pretty typical of the average American - it's my...
