  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

Test drove a couple Wranglers today…

I would agree - I was very range-anxious when we got our Ioniq5 last year, but our driving seems similar to yours, and honestly we only go to DCFC if we are going far, just to top it off - like 200+ miles, or away for the weekend. We don't even have Level 2 at home, and I set our Level 1...

    Initial Production Release

For sure, I just logged in and checked, my reservation date an numbers are unchanged

    Initial Production Release

Yeah, I was an early reservation for a Grenadier, and watched all the early adopter drama, same thing - lots of backwards looking spreadsheets trying to figure out delivery dates based on VIN/order date, etc... but at the end of the day I would rather wait a couple months knowing that SM is...

    Off-topic stuff…

Yeah, I had mine on FB Marketplace for a few weeks, but all the cliches are true about that. Luckily in Denver we have a great consignment motorcycle shop, so I took it in there, 2 weekends later I had a check in my hands, pretty easy. That Triumph was everything I wanted it to be - did a few...

    Off-topic stuff…

@SpaceEVDriver I am in the same boat, 7 years ago I bought my dream bike. To be honest it's still my dream bike, but too many idiots on the road. This spring I got the oil changed and the fork seals replaced, and I swore to myself that I would ride it or sell it. I rode it exactly once, and...

We own EVs. Ask Us Anything.

Almost 11 months into my BEV driving, and that feels about right - and of course @SpaceEVDriver confirmed... I'm lucky because my use case is almost perfect for an EV: 10-12 miles per day commuting, a couple hundred miles on weekends doing fun stuff, and already had solar panels on the house...

First Time EV Owner: Live experience report

Great writeup, thanks for sharing! my 2cents: Regen: I've been trying off and on (get it ?) to adjust to 1pedal driving in my Ioniq5 for almost 10 months now. Just can't do it. I find Hyundai's level 2 regen to be the most natural, and we have enough range that getting a little more...

    What was your first car?

Fun stories - I'm always surprised that there are a lot of people who aren't even sure what brand of car they are driving, and then there's people like us. I don't feel old until I start reading "back in the day" stories from people who are actually young... My 1st was a 1977 Scout SSII - my...

What goodies have you gotten from a dealer/manufacturer after purchasing a car

This came up in a different thread, and I didn't have time to find it and take a picture at the time, but this thread seems more appropriate. This is the belt buckle my dad got as a "gift with purchase" when he picked up his special order (4 cyl, no stripes and a back seat!) 1977 SSII (the car...

Scout Traveler Debuts in New Pacific Mist Color

In my experience/opinion - while not ranch work, but muddy dogs, kids, camping, skiing, mountain biking, etc... leather is way easier to take care of than fabric. I do clean and treat regularly (2-4 times per year? no set schedule, but more often in hot weather) with the Griot's 3-in-1...

Fantastic - throw a Cabana Roof on there, and that might what ends up in my driveway!

Former Rivian R1S owner, almost twice. Can’t wait for the Scout

@socalscout I get your frustration. Lemons happen and they suck, but usually not an indictment of an entire brand - my story is with VW, way back in 1995, and I had sworn off the brand until this Scout project. In my story, we leased a brand new Jetta and it had a bunch of electrical gremlins...

    Rivian CEO Interview

That seems to be my journey - I started full Harvester, but now that we've been driving a full electric Hyundai for almost 9months I'm leaning heavily towards BEV. It's just so much simpler all the way around and so far the adjustment to charging vs filling has been easy. It's a real change...

Luxury features I would like to See

I'm just on the other end of that tunnel (but only 2 kids), and with my oldest off the payroll and my youngest starting her senior year, the timing of the Scout release is making it feel like my reward for getting through - but regardless, i want all the stuff except HUD- bring on the heated and...

    That was fantastic - thanks!

What one thing would you like to see changed from concept to production?

As a current Hyundai Ioniq driver - @Jamie@ScoutMotors and anybody else at Scout Motors if you're listening - a rear wiper is such a must have that I shouldn't even have to say it. Not having one is literally the only thing I don't like about my Hyundai after 8 months of driving, and it's such...

    Must haves to purchase…

@cyure - yeah, no surprise @SpaceEVDriver and others had a great answers, but for what it's worth, as a general rule, traditional AWD will outperform 4WD in regular, highway type snow driving. Rear and Front lockers have no place in the snow and ice, (unless you're going for the Costco...

    Must haves to purchase…

Thanks - that should work well enough that from the driver's seat I'll never know the difference - so all good for me!

What goodies have you gotten from a dealer/manufacturer after purchasing a car

I never thought of that, in my decades of driving and 20+ vehicles I've only ever purchased a new vehicle twice - way back in 2001 when Toyota launched the 4 door Tacoma I ordered one through a broker. I got a 4 month wait and a relatively good price, which was nice. And my current Hyundai, we...

    Must haves to purchase…

Interesting thread, its a good view into how difficult it really is to bring any new product to market, only three pages deep and already there are a few instances of different "must haves" that would automatically cancel each other out. But, @SpaceEVDriver - so sorry to hear that, I've been...
