  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    Driving Distance Poll

I picked the 250-350 bucket. Daily driving is pretty short, but on weekends we like to go skiing, 90-100 miles each way, often very cold so less efficient, but lots of downhill for regen purposes.... Haven't yet taken the Hyundai up there (no racks) but we go to the same mountains often in the...

Please, No Free Fast Charging Credits

Congrats on the new job! Not easy to find one these days. I think we are all (myself definitely included) guilty of worrying about the 5% and forgetting about the 95%. What i mean is, based on what you just said with 40 miles of commuting each week, plus errands, an 80% charge on the BEV...

Please, No Free Fast Charging Credits

Good question. I think it depends on your individual situation. In my case, the Hyundai is primarily my wife's. She commutes 6 miles each way, so 12 miles per day, that's only 60 miles per week. If we start the week with 80% or more, that's more than enough charge to handle that, random...

Please, No Free Fast Charging Credits

OK, I'm going to take a bit of a contrarian view- my experience with "free" charging has been great! I've never driven an EV before, so in preparation for my Scout, I took advantage of the end of year lease deals and got a very cheap two year lease on a Hyundai Ioniq5. I figured the time frame...

    Keep the ol' Scout Too?

Good question - I don't have a classic Scout (although there is a pristine '75 in a garage around the corner, that guy and I have joked about making a deal....) but I don't have the garage space - so my paid for Xterra Pro4X is likely going away when the new Scout comes. Given unlimited space...

How Will Scout Keep Its Momentum Until 2027?

There needs to be a slow drip of information - press releases/articles highlighting specific features, showing up at all the things (Overland Expos, Car shows, boat shows, SEMA, Shot Show, Ski shows, etc...) I think Ineos did a pretty good job of this, especially once they added in the...

We own EVs. Ask Us Anything.

OK, you guys are reinforcing my opinions - when I was learning on a manual I was taught to try to make the ride smooth for the passengers, so the whole "lurching" thing doesn't work for me. I'm going to just keep 1p off for now....

We own EVs. Ask Us Anything.

To be honest, after three weeks of BEV driving I'm not getting the point of 1p driving. We've found in the Ioniq that driving in "eco" mode and level 2 regen feels very much like driving an ICE vehicle, its more than fast enough and we have more than enough charge from our once weekly charges...

We own EVs. Ask Us Anything.

Thats funny, I do the same - my wife and both daughters seem to find the "low fuel" light amusing, I get stressed if I think somebody is below 1/4 tank. We are planning for a level2 charger at home this year, but in my situation it requires a whole new panel on the house, so no rush. So far...

We own EVs. Ask Us Anything.

Today's "mind set change" update: Discussing our Ioniq with a friend this weekend it occurred to me that we all have a tendency to equate process that we are used to, with "right" - and a tendency to equate process that is new or different with "wrong". He's a software engineer, smart guy...

Solid State Battery Tech for Dummies

    That was interesting, thanks

We own EVs. Ask Us Anything.

I will try to keep up with my experiences here, if people find it useful. Here's another mindset change: Slow down. And I mean mentally; physically these are fast cars, drive as a fast as you want. Mentally, there is a lot to learn, to the point of being overwhelming coming from a 12 year...

We own EVs. Ask Us Anything.

I'll be very curious to find out what our real world experiences are. So far, for around town errands, which is the bulk of our day-to-day driving, and a BEV's strong suit, the car is perfect. We've driven almost 300 miles for free, the alternative would have been 17-18 gallons of fuel, at...

We own EVs. Ask Us Anything.

Happy to, but I hate to have it in two places, is there a way to just move it? Mods, something you can do? Just realized I've been active on various forums for a long time, but have never moved a thread....

We own EVs. Ask Us Anything.

Strangely no, but we did get the V2L adaptor, so I can charge other peoples stuff from my car, just not my car from the house. Apparently in 2024 you needed to upgrade to the Limited package to get the Level 1 plug. Since we have Level 2 wiring in the plans for this year, I'm not concerned...

    Really helpful, thanks!

We own EVs. Ask Us Anything.

Yeah, the panels are on the roof and over-producing, so I'm looking forward to putting some of that into the car - but it requires a new panel, so the whole project will cost more than the 2 year car lease - so no big rush while charging is free, just want it done before the Scout gets here.

We own EVs. Ask Us Anything.

OK, for what it's worth: Background: I live just outside of Denver, and learned to drive in my dad's '77 SSII, and very excited to have reservations for both a Traveler and a Terra - will decide truck or SUV when the time comes. Clicked the box for the Harvester Option on both - primarily due...

    Off-Road EV

Agreed - technology for the win. I didn't own an automatic until I was in my 30's, and quickly found out that engineers and computers are way smarter than I am - I see this as the next step in that transition. I still love the feel of rowing the gears behind a loud, carb-fed V8, but if I...

    Home charging setup costs

Appreciate the insight - yeah, $2k isn't the end of the world in the grand scheme of things, and it's relatively small compared to the cost of the new panel - for us, with the solar panels and other house mods our current panel is maxed out, so we'll do the new one, which should also give us...
