  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

Air Suspension vs. Coils - Long Term Durability vs. Real Capability

I will take mine to places like Engineers Pass, Ophir Pass, Blackbear Pass, Moab, Padre Island National Seashore, etc. But playing in rock gardens is a whole different ball of wax. There are some people who easily have over $100k wrapped up in their builds and wheel the crap out of them. $88k...

November 2025 Scout Motors Production Center Update

Holy crap! I used to work in commercial refrigeration and have never seen a heat pump that big. That is quite the beast. I was involved in selling several chiller plants for commercial customers like convention centers and malls. That thing dwarfs all of them.

Air Suspension vs. Coils - Long Term Durability vs. Real Capability

I just see this referenced too often by people. I can technically go end to end on the Rubicon trail in my Lexus, but that would be me taking all the bypasses and spending hours stacking rocks at each challenging area. It would probably look like a crumpled beer can underneath it too. As much...

Air Suspension vs. Coils - Long Term Durability vs. Real Capability

Not buying that. Looks great on paper though. There are plenty of vehicles that can bypass the main obstacles on the trail. It’s disingenuous to say “A Rivian can do the Rubicon Trail.” That’s like saying you went to Disneyworld but hung out in the parking lot the whole time.

Air Suspension vs. Coils - Long Term Durability vs. Real Capability

This is true, but you will still need to have the capital to fight it in court. Dealerships will still lie and deny. The legal costs can be prohibitive and it can take a few years to get a resolution, so you’ll also need another vehicle to drive while yours is disabled and waiting for a...

Air Suspension vs. Coils - Long Term Durability vs. Real Capability

We dont know Scouts official warranty policy yet, and while they do say they will be designed to be modified, almost every auto manufacturer out there will completely void your vehicles warranty if you modify the frame. Flat out. Many of them will deny powertrain warranties if you run...

Air Suspension vs. Coils - Long Term Durability vs. Real Capability

There is no getting around their weight. Even with a perfect suspension setup an EV will struggle climbing the same obstacles as a lighter ICE vehicle with the same suspension. Snow and mud wheeling will also be more challenging. But nobody has seen what a Scout is capable of yet either. I...

Air Suspension vs. Coils - Long Term Durability vs. Real Capability

Oh for sure. I am just trying not to get into the weeds since there are so many variables that can limit travel. The vehicles body, shock diameter, control arm design, knuckle designs, body mounts, tire width, steering components, sway bars, tire height, etc. Typically the shocks lengths are...

Maybe a software update will break the space time continuum.

Air Suspension vs. Coils - Long Term Durability vs. Real Capability

When it comes to IFS a lot of people dont realize a "lift" is just moving your travel, not adding to it. Your shocks are typically your limiting factor when it comes to travel. They determine how much your wheel can go up and down. The shocks will always be the same length, unless you go full...

Do You Want Your Scout To Have A Hands-Free Driving System?

They are physically fine, but there is some healthy fear now that they went through that experience. If you ever meet my children you'll understand why it happened lol. We are also glad to have the Odyssey back. It was in the body shop for two months so the wife had to drop the kids off at...

Air Suspension vs. Coils - Long Term Durability vs. Real Capability

I wonder if the Scouts will have a similar feature… Imagine that is a lot of opposing torque for a solid axle. Maybe I am overthinking it.

Air Suspension vs. Coils - Long Term Durability vs. Real Capability

This is what Chat GPT barfed up for me when I asked "how long do air springs last on semi trucks?". Short answer: a long time, if they’re doing their normal job. Typical lifespan on semi trucks Most air springs (air bags) on Class 8 semis last: 500,000 to 1,000,000 miles Roughly 8 to 15...
