With the headlights getting DOT approval as an assembly, including any reflections off the grill/surround, that portion would have to stay the same as I doubt Scout would pay for certification for each option. If that stays the same though, I can see some optional grills since they appear to just be plastic anyway. It'll be interesting to see what they do.

I might take a couple of shells for this one but I haven't been the biggest fan of the surround lightning. Am I the only one? I did a quick color in on the picture and I think it just looks so clean without. Anyone agree or disagree?
Completely agree. While the scalloped edge looks nice enough, I DO NOT want to have to clean bugs out of those crevices, so I'd like to see those go too.
Hopefully that's one of the subtle design changes Jamie has alluded to.
Would could create a list a mile long of things we'd have to clean out of that area if that makes it to final design. Imagine the amount of bug carcasses that will be back there never to be seen again lol!
I think the surround DRL looks good from a distance and the surround gives the Scout a unique front end (and gives a nod to being electric), but with snow, ice, dirt, mud and bugs, I do believe that this fascia might be re-worked a bit, but still give the appearance of being scalloped.
But it’s so pretty. That what foam cannons and leaf blowers are for.
Very true, and I would say similarly "flat" front fascia to the Scout - which is 100% a giant bug crusher.And as Rivian owners we know all about a unique front end
It’s gonna be the same as dealing with my Wrangler grill. I’m already used to it. Not a big deal as far as I’m concerned.
I'm much more concerned about snow and ice build up )and obscuring the actual headlights while running at night in winter), but that is all TBD at this stage.
Will be curious as there was a lot of forum talk about that in the early days of this crazy lovely safe space
Big issue for you and the northerners. At this point it barely snows in Pa and when it does I just stay home
Even the most aerodynamic cars are crash test walls for bugs. The RZ is worse than I expected but since EV’s have no grill everything is front and center

Okay all this talk about bugs on the front got me thinking about my trip home from the factory. I have a detail guy I love who has done all of our PPF, but I don’t want to drive home without anything on.
I was talking to him today to set up an appointment for my son’s car and he said get this.
It’s temporary. I can just put it on before we get on the road. He will take it off and do the PPF properly. So this can just protect it on the drive home.

It depends what kind it is and how much it is. I really like Stek. So come on SM have Stek PPF.
Who knows if that will be an option straight from the factory, or via certified partners and installers, but it could be at some point...
Rivian added Xpel many months post-launch, FWIW. I had PPF installed on my R1T fascia, hood and tailgate at a local detail shop before they offered it through partners, or the factory:
