April 2026 Scout Production Center Update

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scoutsā„¢. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.
As we await the May update, I think we'll start seeing less real details as the updates become more proprietary where Scout Motors might not want to share too much. With that in mind, it'd be cool to start ramping up a monthly Vehicle Development Update. As engineering details are finalized, whether they're small or large, it'd be cool to hear about some of them. With a number of media sources following the stories and updates in the forum, it'd be a way to keep up the excitement of the general public and keep Scout Motors in front of their faces more often. As a side benefit, it keeps us forum monsters fed, even if they're just small morsels. Later, you can put all the details out for a production vehicle reveal. I'm not talking anything crazy/unique that other manufacturers will be copying, but let's see some final light designs, a rear wiper design, what the accelerator pedal will look like, etc.

I'd be more than fine with this. In fact, I think it would drive even higher levels of excitement as this would indicate the vehicles are getting closer and closer to production.

That's what I'm thinking. I've been here for 3 1/2 years and am really looking forward to the exciting time of these becoming a reality!

Ha! We *are* monsters, aren't we...

I feel your pain and the non-proprietary items would be cool.
Other video I’d love to see and tied into updates is showing all the prototype parts that were 3-d printed or fabricated in a shop to show the behind the scenes of how a prototype is born and created. Kind of a ā€œhow the sausage is madeā€ approach

Yeah, there's that one video with the Traveler as a body-in-white with what appear to be 3D-printed light bezels, trim pieces, etc before it was all polished up. I love the gritty details, what the design team has to go through to make certain things work, etc. I'm also way too fascinated with details of production lines and what the various machines do.

Sounds like there might be a bunch of us so WTH- @Jamie@ScoutMotors any chance of a story or podcast or video showing the parts being made? Maybe early on 3-D printing to @CP1@scoutmotors grinding a seam slightly different to building/installing prototype seats that don’t quite fit to seeing up close quarter panels being stamped, continuous seam welding, etc???? Stuff that isn’t proprietary and won’t be able to be seen during a factory tour but the details and as @speedrye noted, the gritty details. As a forum of nostalgic tinkerers it would be a cool compilation of the little things. Or short vids of the CAD drawing of the 3-d printed air compressor then seeing it get printed or the headlight housings, etc…. And also tricks of the trade-every designer/builder has tricks and what are the bandaids we aren’t seeing that your team grimaces and grins about at every show because ā€œitā€ held together for another round šŸ˜€

The hard part with the concepts is that it is an outside contractor and they have a lot of proprietary work going on there to build these things.

That said, the first actual early parts are arriving at the factory. Things like early sheetmetal stamping that we can mounting on robots for testing purposes. The usual stuff that goes on as you are working on a factory.

We will be getting into the factories to do some walk and talk style tours of the progress going on. Stay tuned...
