  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.
Please make a 2-door with a Volkswagen sourced TDI, and a 7-speed manual. 35s optional, and possibly a removable top? There is literally no limit to the amount of money I would drop to buy one of those.
Wow - that's a tall order! You might have to import something from another country!

But welcome and I hope you find something that Scout intends to produce meets your needs in the future...

I'm sorry if that came across snarky - didn't mean it that way...
I think several people have expressed interest in an ICE Scout and *many* (more than I can count) have expressed interest in a 2-door!

I hope you like this community (lots of fun people) and I hope we all get the Scout we're dreaming of!

Several people have asked for an non-BEV version. Scout Motors has already replied to those requests indicating they have no plans to introduce a non-BEV version of the Traveler or Terra. They also said the generator in the EREV will have a naturally aspirated 4-cylender engine. So, no chance of a TDI or a manual transmission. If you are looking for a traditionally powered gasoline vehicle, you will need to look elsewhere.

The representatives on the forums have indicated that they are looking at additional body configurations for future models, but they have not dropped any hints about what direction they might take. It might be a 2-door, or it might be an extended Traveler with three rows of seating. Or it might be a minivan. :p I think an off-road focused mini-van could be pretty cool, but I doubt there is enough of a market for it.

Scout Motors has already confirmed that 35inch tires are going to be an option. 33inch tires will be standard.

As for the removable top? They are offering a solid top, a glass top (moon roof, I think?), and a cabana top as options on the Traveler. I have not seen anything mentioned about a removable top.

Okay well here’s the question I have. Always with the questions!

If the OP would truly spend any amount of money to make this happen couldn’t you get a vintage Scout, put a TDI engine in it and a 7 Speed transmission and cut the top off and make it a soft top? If funds are truly unlimited you could make what you want right?

Never gonna happen. Diesel gate is a sore spot. And internment is electric powering the wheels. EREV is best your gonna get

Yes. There is rumor they have some design ideas for a 2-door but until battery range grows so the can fit between wheels there isn’t a great chance. That said I’d love to buy one. Especially if life style with a removable top

A six-door Terra might be interesting…
Ta and Da!
