Luxury Pacific Mist

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.
I just dont want specific features like a winch to require a $20k package.

I dont want people feeling left out because they wanted heated and cooled seats but that requires a $20k package,

I dont want colors limited to a $20k package.

Im sure there is a lot of data that doesnt reflect what consumers actually want when they are forced to pick between two choices when they may not be thrilled about either.

Those things can separate an enthusiast brand with lots of organic growth via referrals or things can be packaged like they are from the big brands and face a lukewarm reception from the market.

I’m hopeful that they will include a good selection of colors. And maybe if they have the Build Supplier Park up and running they’ll be able to get a 3rd party wrap company to move in and offer custom wraps “from the factory.”

Since they are adding a large Build Supplier Park, why not shoot for the moon and get a bunch of customizing shops set up?
  • A wrap and/or custom paint company - so you can get any exterior color/pattern you want.
  • A seat cover/custom floor mat company - so you can order seat colors/texture and heavy duty floor coverings custom fit to the Scouts.
  • A hard core off-road gear company - so you can get your custom winch, bead-lock tires, built in air pump, and other gear.
  • A bed-liner and cap company - and other things to accessorize the Terra's bed.
  • A camping/trailer accessories company - since several people on the forum have mentioned they will be camping and/or towing.
    • I am sure someone will make a plug in fridge/freezer to mount in the frunk (if not, business opportunity?).
    • Here is a questions for the forum - how would you design a custom trailer to "match" the Scouts?
  • A Scout branded accessories shop - so we can buy a ton of Scout branded clothing and other merchandise when we do our factory pickup (factory pickup is still #1 on my wish list  ).

And Jamie and company are… ROTF LTAO.

We don’t only look at current and past trends. We also have tons of data on what customers want/prefer from a wide variety of consumer trend and data companies. That said, trying to negotiate with a supplier for one small item when you don’t know how many people will purchase a single option it is really difficult. That’s often why things get bundled. I’m using a random example here. If it turns out chrome badges only have a 2% take rate and you committed to a supplier to purchase 4x that thinking people want “heritage” badges in chrome, then you made a costly mistake. There are times you take a risk to see what customers want, but by and large you try and avoid risk.

Just want to shed light on the why and how car companies make decisions.
So what I’m hearing is we need to all order the heritage edition or Jamie’s in trouble :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

I like Scouts minimalist approach when it comes to badging. Scout name front and back. Harvester on the Harvesters access door. As long as they can carry this clean theme to Heritage badging I am all in on a Heritage version.
Agreed. I'm very much over badging and find the practice extremely dated. These days, you're lucky if the average person on the street even recognizes the model you're in, forget subset information like trims and power train selections. They don't matter and some brands have given them up entirely minus basic maker's marks.

Speaking of a time when badging mattered, this is an amazing documentary from 1994 about company cars in the UK where the badge was everything.

The video was very interesting. What I found funny is the fact that they made this documentary. Still don't like badging.

Yes these days you can do that without messing things up. I remember the days when badging required holes in the body work.
On our first Prius, which we had to order, I demanded they not put the dealer badges on because I didn’t want holes in the body. They asked if it was okay if they used glue, and I said, “No. I’ll just have to clean it off." The dealers think they deserve my vehicle’s body space for their advertisements after wasting many hours of my time. No.

The Ford Emergency Response card gives details on how to recognize their electric vehicles as electric. Because the Lightning is very similar to an F-150 in most ways, some of that recognition is dependent on the badging. That’s one of the reasons I won’t remove that badging even though I’m not a fan. Also, once it’s on, I can’t be bothered to remove it.
