  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.

I just saw the following regarding the 0-60 acceleration:
Scout Motors projects that the fully-electric versions of the Traveler™ SUV and Terra™ truck will accelerate from 0-60 mph as quickly as 3.5 seconds.
Scout® vehicles equipped with the Harvester™ range extender are anticipated to accelerate from 0-60 mph as quickly as 4.5 seconds.

I did ask chat why the difference and the Harvester is coming with a smaller battery. This wasn't conveyed when I put my reservation down for the Harvester version and I must be honest that I'm very disappointed in the reduced performance. It would be nice to have the option for the performance along with the range extender.

All numbers are engineering numbers, aka they are false given numbers that are most likely under estimated. Car companies do this so they can have numbers floating around while protecting the real numbers.

So a 1 second slower pace is a make or break for you. Personally I don’t think any large utility vehicle should have these speeds but it’s the nature of EVs and electric motors. 4.5 seconds isn’t exactly slow. You can still take 85% of vehicles off the line when you launch.

I remember when 0-60 in under 5 seconds was fast. I think my 2010 Camaro SS was around 4.6 seconds. They claimed my 2016 Challenger Hellcat was under 4 seconds, but that car was so grossly under tired that around 4.3 was my best effort on a non prepped highway surface. My fastest time at 0-60 comes from my TRX with all wheel drive at 3.9 seconds.

Anyway, before I started to ramble, I was going to say I agree with @J Alynn - under 5 seconds is moving pretty good. The EV has changed how people look at quick/fast. We have average moms and dads smoking Mustangs in their EV Rivians and Kia’s. The instant torque is insane. I love a good highway on ramp as much as the next guy, but I want my truck or SUV to do everything well, not just be quick.

That said, just once (or maybe two or three times) I’d like to give the Lucid Air Sapphire a rip. 0-60 in under 2 seconds has to be a violently magnificent experience!

I tested a friend’s Model X Plaid. I couldn’t floor it. Whatever it was doing to my blood pressure almost made me pass out before I reached peak acceleration. I’ll happily stick to my 4.5 second Lightning and even then I rarely floor it.

Here’s a good explainer on why EVs are smoking even some of the most finely-tuned gassy vehicles.

Fastest I have done is 3.2 (motorcycle). I don't think I have driven a car with a 0-60 under 7 seconds - but that used to be fast. At least it is not like my gen 1 Tacoma - which is eventually (13+ seconds, unless a hill is involved). Only thing worse I have ever had was a bug - I don't think I ever got it up to 60. That said, speeds have gotten a lot better in the last 15 years -nothing has been super slow in that time.

Saturn (25 years old now) with probably less than 100hp felt "fast" because you had to rev the engine and shift a lot (manual). Wife still technically owns that one (but her oldest son has been borrowing it for a few years. Should have about 350k miles on it by now. Went from my wife's "divorce" car, to my commuter, to her oldest daughter, to her oldest son... Not powerful, but great vehicle - especially since it cost 11k new.

Always loved the Saturns. And their sales process-no haggle no hovering or bugging you

Besides, a fast 0-60 time is not the primary function of the Scout. Having driven a 152cid Scout for my first car any single digit time is great.

Good morning. I have a question. (I ask lots of questions around here). Have you ever driven a 3.5 sec car and a 4.5 sec car?

Plus there is the wasted efficiency of transferring reciprocal energy to rotational energy.

Like I said - I want to do this just once (or two or three times) before I die. Why? Because I’m a 12 year old at heart.

We have the Supra and it’s a 3.7 second car. Unless you are on a track you aren’t going balls out driving to Sam’s club. It’s fun and I love having it and yes people want to race you but it if was 4.5 second it would be just as fun.

One day my husband had a corvette flooring it at every stoplight on his way to work and he just went normal speed and would end up at the red light next to the guy every time. He said it got pretty funny after it happened the 3rd or 4th time.

exactly. It’s a multi purpose vehicle and a connection machine. It’s the journey and time getting away

I have not. 5.5-ish has been the fastest and that was plenty good since I don’t live in Texas where there is miles of open highway and I could mess around doing that. Rarely do I land on a road by myself or a 4-lane with traffic lights to even try to drag race someone else

I have see to be the other guy and now I’m your husband in that scenario. Traffic lights are the great equalizer

The other thing that was interesting is there’s a mode you can put the Supra in when it’s in sport mode and it shows how many hp you are using etc etc. You feel like you are flying and you aren’t using anywhere near the total 384 hp it has. I can’t even imagine how these EVs feel that have 600 to 1000 hp.
