Top Five Accessories For The New Scout

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.
The aftermarket will be flooded with these types of add-ons.
They will but if SM can offer them as OEM and keep prices reasonable that’s a win for everyone. Would be even better if SM could offer installation right from the factory or like if you do factory delivery in SC they could include installing those options as part of the delivery experience. Imagine leaving Blythewood in your Scout with the accessories on and covered under warranty. 😀

Agreed, especially for things that require wiring mods and frame mounting

I've never had a Scout, so the Traveler will be my first, but I've had a number of offroad/overland vehicles, and I have a few items that I always add to any build.

1) High clearance steel front bumper with the ability to mount a winch. I am partial to the tube/hybrid style, not the ARB chunky steel style.
2) High clearance steel rear bumper with recovery points. Maybe a modular swing arm options for mounting equipment.
3) Skid plates (traditionally for engine, transmission, transfer case and gase tank, might be different on EVs)
4) Rock sliders
5) Expedition style roof rack, or Prinsu-style extruded aluminum roof rack. Something with a footprint to carry a 4'x8' sheet of plywood on the roof would be excellent.

So I was riding in a Lexus IS today and thought the heat/cool adjuster was really cool. It’s not touch screen or a button. It’s a haptic slide bar so you just drag your finger up or down to set the temp. It’s very cool and easy to use-at least as a passenger. Not saying I want it over a toggle but thinking of original Scouts with the slide bar/lever or whatever you’d call it and in a horizontal format would be cool in a future SM productView attachment 6531
Hard no, haptics don't work with winter gloves on. I'd rather they stick with physical buttons or a knob.

Welcome to the forum!

Great suggestions.

I’m a surfer and would love a waterproof key fob. Or better yet a waterproof thing like an AirTag that you could put on a keychain or in your wallet or a wristband. Wetsuits have zipper pockets with a loop of string for key with a hole so something that size with a hole for the string to keep it secure. I’ve had watches nearly ripped off my wrist in big surf so having something to secure to the string and without sharp edges and small enough for the key pocket would be the ideal design
