Hey Lady Scouts!!

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.
As men on the forum are we permitted to read and like all your comments? Or is this Alfalfa and the he man woman haters club but for women?
All are welcome! We love feedback! Everyone has women in their lives. But just know if you post something and we don’t agree we won’t hold back. I don’t get the impression we have any shrinking violets here. Ha!

I also don’t feel like I speak for all women, for certain. My best friend isn’t a purse carrier. People have been shocked to hear that she has a husband rather than a wife: she wouldn’t need a purse hook (also, I love purse hooks in cars: I don’t want my purse touching the gross floor, ew). I hope more women speak up about what they want to see in a car, exterior and interior.

I don’t think people ever think about stuff like embarrassing stains on upholstery because it’s a gross and weird thing to talk about, but someone’s gotta be that pioneer. I’m not suggesting that the seats also have built-in toilets. OR AM I??? (I am not: that’s someone else’s pay site, no thanks)

I made a whole thread a while ago about the need for dedicated trash space.

It can work for anything you want to keep off the floor. Diaper bag, back pack, fanny pack, reusable grocery bags.

And yes I hope we get more women putting in their opinions.

I mentioned this thread today to my husband and I said like for example I can’t leave my pony tail in when I sit in the car seat, like nolen had mentioned. He had no idea. The thought wouldn’t have even occurred to him.

I, for one, am going to take full advantage of this opportunity.

How about a place for our glasses/sunglasses that’s not just throw them loose in the center console. As a lady of a certain age, I am now in the time of my life where I need progressive lenses and boy do those glasses get expensive. My sunglasses this time around before insurance were $1000. And when I’m driving and let’s say the sun goes down or comes up, I’m trying to switch between them and keep the car on the road.

It would be nice if they had a place to live that was near the drivers seat and that was lined somehow so the lenses don’t scratch.

Agreed about ponytails: I forgot to add my feedback about this. I’m a fan of chunky butterfly clips, but I’ve also got herniated discs in my neck. All of these things don’t always play together when I’m driving. Having something that supports my hair clip without it digging into my skull and still supporting my actual head/neck/spine wouldn’t be awful. Truly, it’s a first-world problem, but I found a website with cute hair clips. I want more of them! A lady enjoys a hair accessory from time to time. Sometimes they break from pressure and it’s a bummer if you spent a good amount of coin on it. It’s even a bummer if it’s an inexpensive clip. I don’t want my hair in my face and yet I also don’t want short hair. ACCOMMODATE MY NEUROSES ABOUT HAIR, SCOUT MOTORS. 😤

Oh and driving in heels. This will be my daily driver so there will be occasions where I’m in heels. That’s where that adjustable dead pedal would come in handy.

And honestly for the guys too. Men’s Cowboy boots and leather boots can have quite a heel on them and be a different driving experience than tennis shoes. Again could require a different position for the dead pedal based on the shoes.

Ohh boy… please don’t make Scout into the ultimate soccer mom mobile that’s what Volvo is for 🤣🤣🤣🤣

I like the feedback though, since we do need Scouts to fit the middle ground. Something olds scouts sadly didn’t which also helped kill IH Scout.

But I do have to agree, as someone with beautiful locks and wears a hat, I hate when I put hat on backwards and then my head can’t sit against the rest properly.

I‘m sure you’re kidding, but in the event that you’re not or someone who is reading this is not, I’ll repost what I said last year on this topic because I think it’s unfair to rag on soccer moms.

I’d like to mention that it makes me very uncomfortable to read gatekeeping language suggesting that this shouldn’t be a car for “soccer moms” —why not? What will a soccer mom not appreciate about a Scout?

I was a tiny little girl with curly pigtails, Tonka trucks, one blind eye, Barbies, and a zillion stuffed animals and yet I loved my parents’ car. I might not have appreciated the same things as someone rhapsodizing about manual transmission (never did learn), but I don’t get why a soccer mom or a disabled middle-aged woman doesn’t deserve to have the same fun with a Scout as anyone else. I loved watching my dad work on the car in the backyard and passing him wrenches: that’s not going to happen with this one.

This isn’t meant to be provocative… really, I’m not understanding the concern. Is it a concern that [something], whatever [something] happens to represent, could get watered down because of a lack of understanding or appreciation?

I was a soccer mom back in the day. And a Boy Scout mom. I think a Scout could be the perfect vehicle for the soccer/football/baseball/Scout mom.

First of all, you would be the most bad ass mom driving up in your Scout. But secondly think of the utility of it. Plenty of room for kids and gear. That huge frunk and back that kids and parents could sit on. An option for a bench seat so seating for 6, so you can take extra kids in the carpool. You would be the one that could charge phones, plug in electric pumps, plug in a fridge to keep snacks cold. If your kid is on a travel team it would be a great road trip car. If your kid is in Scouts it would be great for camping trips.

So many of the memories people associate with their Scouts from back in the day are memories made with the family not just dads.

And in all the suggestions so far in our ladies centric thread here, none have been to dial back on the off road capabilities of the car. No one has said take the tire off the back or make it more luxurious. It’s just consider that we have unique needs and if some accommodations can be made for us it shows consideration and that Scout truly is a car for all.

And one last point. In many, many households we women are the financial managers. I know I am. I have heard the Everyday Driver guys call us the Minister of Finance (something to that effect). This is a big purchase for a family and if Scout can show value and care for all members of the family they are going to knock this out of the park.

Now, for me personally. This will be “my” car. Yes it’s for the “family” but if we all get in, I’m the one driving her. She will be my daily and the one that the family goes places in. It would be great if I could get some sort of accommodation for my pony tail, and the things I have mentioned above, but do not under any circumstances take away my 35s, full size spare in a tire carrier on the back, Rallye stripes and ability to add aftermarket mods.

Thank you for reading.

"Hear hear" to everything Cyure and Scoutsie said. It's honestly an example of exactly why ONE thread was created for women to talk to other women about cars, in what is always a male dominated space. And we can't even get away with avoiding "soccer mom" or "mall crawler" jokes.

The reality is, most families cannot afford to have $60-70k new vehicles be dedicated to specialty purposes. We have to fit many different kinds of needs in a single vehicle. God forbid we want to have a cool, capable vehicle for adventures that also has to serve as our grocery getter, commuter car, and everything in between. No one makes those kind of comments about all the dude bros here in Colorado that fill the Trader Joe's parking lot with their jacked up 4Runners every weekend.

I'm sure the jokes are all in good fun, but if you can't tell, women are sick of it.

THANK YOU SARALIZ! EXACTLY!!

Decent cupholders. I always have a water bottle with me, and also frequently have an additional beverage (coffee, iced tea, etc...) I like to be well hydrated, haha!

I love driving my husband's Audi, but it has the most god-awful cup holders and location. You can't put a travel coffee mug in them without blocking half the console buttons.

The biggest thing for me though is I realllllly hope it has COMPLETELY fold flat seats. My car is my dog hauler, and it's such a pain having that little slope when you fold the back seats down. The dogs don't like it, and it also makes it harder to fit kennels in!

I’m fairly certain the backseat has USB ports for charging but we need at least 3. One for each passenger. My Jeep doesn’t have that and the backseat passenger needs to charge and then I don’t have a long enough cord to reach from the front to the back.

Agreed. I like having USBC chargers, but I wouldn’t be put out if there was still an old-tymey USBA in there. I mean, there doesn’t have to be a friggin’ parallel port for a printer. It’s just nice to have options for the fifty thousand things that one may have to charge. Cable management is nice, too.

And I’m with you on cup holders. I have a pretty great travel water bottle that doesn’t fit in my damn cup holder, so it rolls around on the empty seat. It was a Wirecutter recommended water bottle (Takeya 24 oz), but it’s no good to me that way! It’s almost perfect in every way because it keeps water cold for hours, it can go in the dishwasher, and it doesn’t leak. It just doesn’t fit.

The fewer cracks and crevices for things (Lego bricks, Cheerios, half-eaten chicken nuggets) to fall into, the better. Kids will find a way if there’s an opening

Oh I have been there many times. It never fails it’s the piece of the action figure that they have to have and then they crying. And don’t get me started on the fries that fall into the seat belt buckle hole.

Oh and on the cup holder discussion. Make the ones in the back deep enough so tall drinks don’t tip over. Mine in the back of the Jeep aren’t very deep and I’m always afraid those venti Starbucks cups are going to tip out of the cup holder and spill. It would be really nice if there was a console in the back seat that pulled down and had a cup holder in it. I haven’t seen enough of the back seat to know what’s there and what isn’t and how it folds but that would be nice if possible.
