Hey Lady Scouts!!

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.
Hi! I’ve had EVs for seven years, in Houston and for the last four years in North Dakota. Super hot and super cold, lol. I can answer any cold weather questions, or long trip questions. I’ve got close to 200,000 EV miles. I love seeing everyone’s puppy photos:)
Thanks Dana! Since you're offering... it's all I hear from folks over here in Michigan, that EV's wouldn't handle the serious cold. You're probably even colder in ND! What's your take? I have to drive about 75 miles a day to/ from work, which is not that much, but wasn't sure if the car sits all day in the cold, does this drain the battery at all? I'm hoping to only charge at home as much as possible. I reserved the Harvester, but the more I've learned, the more I'm leaning toward all electric. Would love to hear your experience! And Yay for all the cute pups!! 😍

Same here. Reserved a Harvester but the more I learn the more I am leaning towards the BEV. I’m in Central Illinois and am lucky to work from home. So some days it would go nowhere. Am I just leaving it plugged in? Charging to 100% then unplugging?

My first two years here I drove 80 miles each way…in one of the coldest winters they’d had in a few years. At work it sat outside. Frequently in cold places there are electrical posts for plugging in engine block heaters…you can use those if they’re available. A friends car was parked outside during a blizzard for three days. He got a couple of feet of snow off and it was just fine. The car will have a warming circuit to keep battery above zero degrees. I haven’t noticed a huge drain while sitting in either heat or cold but there some accessories that will cause drain, mostly checking app and keeping car awake. New owners tend to fall into this trap of constantly checking on car and freaking when they lose 50 miles. Just let the car sleep and you’ll be fine.

I’d like to be BEV but 350 miles isn’t enough. Where I live and where I go my current 406 miles is barely enough. So I’ve reserved a Harvester for now. Once production starts, if BEV range has increased I’d change. It really will depend on how you’ll use the vehicle and how often you’ll have longer roadtrips/ going to remote locations…some of the places I go there’s no charging there and that means a round trip back to a charger. Make a list of places you go, and what charging options are on the way or at destination. That’ll help you decide. PlugShare will help with chargers.

Typically you’d set it to charge to 80% and leave it plugged in. If a big storm is coming I’ll charge to 100% just in case power is lost for awhile.

Good morning ladies! I know there’s a thread for Scout features that we want, but as women do we have different wishes and must have for our Scouts? I see lots of talk of towing capacity and able to flat town etc, but as someone who doesn’t camp or go off road those things aren’t important to me. Those things may be important to some of us but not all.

This car truly will be my car. My husband is a sports car guy and has no interest in driving my car. When we get in my Jeep, I’m driving. So I will be driving my Scout. I want to make sure I’m putting my wishes out there to the Scout team to ensure they consider us ladies. We are over 50% of the population after all.

One of my big wishes is color. I’m tired of suit color cars, I saw Jamie describe it that way. I want my Scout to be unique and the first part of that is a color that you don’t see everyday. When I walk out into the parking lot I want her to stand out in a sea of black, grey and white.

What other things do we hope for in our Scouts?

One thing that I find nice to have is space for my ponytail/bun to be on the back of my head but still be able to lean my head back. With my Flex, the headrest comes forward too much and too straight and hits right where the ponytail is unless I have it flat down on the back of my neck. Volvo actually designed their headrests to accommodate this at one point (brought in a team of women engineers to go through the design and think of things like that).

YES! So many times I have to pull my hair clip out and redo my hair when I get to where I’m going. I had to do that last night in fact.

Make the dead pedal adjustable. I like my seat back so I have enough room for the girls and I’m not stuffed up right against the steering wheel and when I do that I can’t reach the dead pedal so I end up having to put my left foot flat on the floor. I find myself changing position of my left foot frequently as I don’t have a place for it to rest on.

A place to put my purse! I'm the driver for my dad and my husband so my purse gets relegated to some far off place in the car, or it sits on top of the cup holders. I would also appreciate a super adjustable steering wheel and seats. My lower leg length is not huge but I also like to sit back a little but it ends up putting a lot of pressure behind my knee. Hoping the seat belts can be adjusted down to avoid the decapitation that is possible with that belt across my neck. Think anyone will read these?

I am with you on the purse. I hate it when I put it on the seat and it’s open and falls over when I turn and then you are trying to find everything that fell out. They make those aftermarket purse hooks that go over the bars that go in the headrest but the way the Scout seats look I don’t know if those would even work. And yes on the seats. Major adjustability and knee support. My BMW back in the day had that part on the front you could pull out so it would hit your knees.

As for do they read these? I have seen Jamie from SM reply to and interact with other posts. Let’s see if we are getting their attention.

@Jamie@ScoutMotors are you out there. We ladies have ideas!!

YAASSSSS! We got their attention ladies. Back to our ideas. What else do we have?

Mine is safety. My current vehicle doesn’t lock until I get going and get up to 10 mph I think it is. Sometimes when I get in the car I need to sit for a minute and I don’t like being in a parking lot with my doors unlocked so I lock them myself. It would be nice if when I got in the car and all the doors are shut it locked. And for sure I want the feature where one push on the remote or touch of the handle only opens the drivers door. You have to push again to open everything.

Thanks Jamie again for letting us know SM is listening to us!

Okay, bear with me because this is a little yucky, but… period-proof seats? 😖 I’ve joked about it but I’m honestly serious. Easy-clean seats that don’t get stained or hold odors from barf… clutch.

Oh! It’s gross but honestly. When my son was 2 he was in the backseat with the dog and the dog threw up and then my son started throwing up and I was trapped in a car with a dog and toddler puking. I threw everything away. Clothes. Car seat cover all of it. So yes seats that don’t soak up whatever is on them. Which would also be good for off road. Mud, sand, dirt etc. make it easy to clean.

Oh and when the kids were little it never failed. They would drop some tiny piece of a toy down the hole where the seat belt latch comes out of and they are in the back crying and you are trying to figure out how to get whatever it is they dropped out.

Oh and one more. Having had to teach multiple kids to drive it would be amazing if you had a new driver profile. A setting you could select that had all the safety features turned on and at the loudest chimes and vibrations. It would have a speed limiter you could set and not allow the phone to be used unless the car was stopped. And it would turn off the off road selections so when they are taking my Scout out without me they cant go acting a fool. And it would require a password to turn it on and off. So only to be used when the kid is driving. I swear I have more grey hair now because of all those years teaching kids to drive!

I would love a pet carrier that more easily integrates with the seat belt. I was thinking last week how great it would be to have a soft carrier that is car-friendly and airline-friendly, short of (or inclusive of) designing it myself. Which is an option. 🤔 It should have removable light-blocking flaps attached (to block out light so you don’t hear MEOWWWW I AM TERRIFIED while you’re driving to the vet). I recently watched a zillion videos on bag making and also recently took my cat to the vet and have to do it again next month and I like products that solve my problems.

Integrated first aid kit. And not just a first aid kit that comes with a Velcro sticker you stick somewhere on the vehicle. Both my kids Hyundais came with that and the sticker doesn’t stay stuck to the car. It falls off and then with the heat in a trunk the sticker gets all gooey and gets on places it shouldn’t be.

Also, first aid kit includes emergency menstrual products, plz: tampons and pads. Not because I want to become Period Weirdo over here, but because I don’t feel uncomfortable asking when you can’t see my face. Right now. 😅
