VW cash flow issues affect Scout?

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.

A big beautiful fiscal year. Remember when it was that they were gonna be dead by December. And now its hey we had a great fiscal year. So what really happened? They were able to throw billions at Rivian while the whole thing was happening with IG metall.
I wouldn't brush aside that nearly 10% decline in Volkswagen's largest market of China. That situation is only going to get worse as time goes on.

But also China’s Car Market dropped in total along every board. its more of a china problem
Did it? I'm seeing that it increased overall however buried within those numbers are the increase of EVs, decrease of ICE, and decrease of Western brands like VW. Even if the market dropped, the spirit of this thread is VW's cash flow so having a nearly 10% drop regardless of reasons hurts the bottom line.

Interestingly enough I saw my first BYD in London last week and it looks very similar to the VW ID series so that may be part of the struggle as well with struggling with a visual identity. And to be fair the BYD (missed what model) was really good looking as a modern EV. Not anywhere close to as cool as the Scouts retro vibe but good lines and curves

BYD has some nice looking sedans. Several models based on the new Han will be sold in Mexico.

Hopefully, they push through and get this vehicle to market. This is the first time I have ever seen a vehicle we liked so much I was willing to reserve one and wait possibly three or more years to receive it.
You said it I got one on the books real early, certainly one of the first in Canada - during the reveal back in Nov I was in the live chat, even posted "come on surprise Hybrid" lol

The longest I have ever waited for a vehicle was 14 months for my wife's 2022 Maverick Hybrid. I am willing to wait for the Scout.

Will be interesting to see Tesla's results again this quarter... Not a bad thing to have consumer choice when it comes to EV's, and more specifically EV trucks! LFG.

Volkswagen may view Scout Motors as a key part of its strategy to expand in the American EV market, potentially prioritizing its funding even amid financial challenges.

Yeah very interesting point, while VW is getting hammered by Chinese automakers elsewhere, in the US they can expand more freely...of course we have our own issues but still.
