Usb ports on top of dash

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.
Also, I think there needs to be 3 or 4 USB-C ports. GoPro, dashcam, Radar detector, ham/cb radio… it’s easy to envision accessories adding up.

That said, there could just be a 12v socket or proprietary 12v connector up there. Scout could then offer a breakout box as an accessories (or a few with different connector types and numbers).

But these also need to be higher power capable- at least 15w per USB-C to support full spec. Qi 2 wireless chargers.

I noticed in a recent blog-was a middle aged woman but forget the blog name-anyway-one of her camera angles appeared to show two ports tucked under the rail. Appeared to be one at each end. Was a weird angle so wondering if they are there but nobody has captured them because of location. @Jamie@ScoutMotors ???

I use the dash USB ports to power my camera setup, especially for quick access without running cables across the cabin. Works great with the Insta360 X3 I got from insta360.com - easy to plug in and go without dealing with the center console clutter.

There is a gear rail top center of dash with talk that there should/could be USB ports in that location. I don't believe we ever got anything official from Scout. I will do a search and update this post if I find anything.

After digging around I found this. from THil08

Scout. “People. Connections. Community. Authenticity." Welcome to the Scout community. Enjoy the ride. 🛻 🚙
Remember the built in search on the forums is a great place to start getting answers to your many questions. 😀

There was an angle and photo from reveal that appeared to show 2 usbs but the angle didn’t clearly show them to confirm 100% as they are a bit recessed

I just saw this image in the one recent story SM posted. This is their UX “work in progress” but it almost looks like there could be USB ports in the top of the UX screen. Will be curious where they end up. Top of UX is a good location and central but for those doing off road dust work, it would collect dust and other build up.

Recommendation after CES videos have come out. On top of dashboard usb ports for powering GoPro, InReach, cameras, phones etc so there aren’t cords dangling over the interface. The accessory bar is fantastic, but power needs to be provided for those accessories.
Yes, for radar detector we must.
