What will you typical cargo look like in your Scout?

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.

So wondering what we will all haul as our most common cargo load. For me it will be the goods to run archery tournaments along with sport canopy and chairs and a 68” long bow and the rest of my daughter’s gear. Second biggest cargo will be luggage to and from the airport. I’d say corpses but @Scoutsie and I have decided not to talk about that hobby we’ve teamed up doing 🤣 Frunk will be used for every day back ups like some tools, blanket, some bottles of water and then my reusable grocery bags. What’s everyone else planning to fill the back and Frunk with when their Scout(s) arrive?

I keep a small towel, umbrella, wheel cleaner, 12v vacuum, glass cleaner, a couple microfiber towels, and a tire inflater in the cargo area. In the summer I also carry a Covercraft window shade. I keep everything under the main load floor in separate compartment except the umbrella and shade. The iX doesn’t have a frunk. The Scout has a built in air compressor. So, I probably won’t carry the inflator in the Scout.

This last trip we had a full Samsonite luggage set, a mesh bag of beach toys, two folding beach chairs, an beach umbrella, 2 Xbull traction boards, Lifetime 55qt cooler, 1 30gal tote full of dry foods, tarp, first aid kit, 5 overstuffed backpacks, 2 blankets, two pillows, a case of water, a case of Gatorade, 2 12 packs of Lacroix, Milwaukee M18 1/2 impact, Air Compressor and plug kit, contractor bags, and a collapsible shovel.

I had to remove one of the 3rd row seats to fit the cooler in the back and buy a hitch carrier to fit the rest of our crap.

We really need a frunk!

I apparently haven’t taken photos of my frunk with its usual emergency gear—some of which has been in my kit since the early 1990s.

When we go on camping trips, I also pack extra gear depending on the length of the trip, who we’re going with, and what kind of recovery gear I think we’ll need. Usually I have to add some stuffing into the frunk because I’m annoyed by things bouncing around. The frunk is massive. I think the Scout Terra’s frunk may be at least as large and possibly bigger. You’re going to love it.

This is our camping kit. We’re debating whether we’ll keep the propane & propane fire pit. Most of the time our forests are closed to fires that don’t have an off switch. I would like to find an electric solution. My partner would prefer to bring the propane fire pit. I think it adds cost, complexity, uses up a lot of space, and I don’t find it any more pleasing than simple warmth from a radiative heater or an electric blanket. She’ll win.

All of this gear fits under the tonneau cover. The solar panels on the rack charge the battery that runs the fridge and enable me to add some miles to my range over a few days of camping.

And 6 people. Very impressive.

Hazmat response pack out, clothes bag, and three large dogs… if my gear isn’t stored in a work vehicle it’s in the office equipment room or in my personal vehicle. The dogs constantly travel with my wife and I to fun places and we either take her vehicle or mine for more room…

Also there are times where I use my personal vehicle for work so subtract the dogs but add in all manor of pelican cases containing all sorts of fun air monitoring instruments, SCBAs, chem suits and more…

Garbage, lip balm for every mood, thirty thousand recyclable shopping bags because they had pretty designs and I like variety, a little more garbage, stuff from two cars ago, stuff from my first marriage, expired registrations, an unopened ring light, a bear from a DIY mall paint workshop, some bottles that I need to recycle, snow brush, arcade tokens, hair accessories, breath spray (empty but maybe I can eke out one more spray in a stinky breath emergency), a couple of half-full bottles of water, a receipt from the hospital garage, parking slips from the hospital garage that got demagnetized accidentally on the way out, EZPass, two lucky rocks, iPhone charging cable that is about to break any second now with dirty Rilakkuma cable holder, hand sanitizer because I abhor filth, Rifle Paper Co. disposable paper masks because the cancer center sometimes still requires a mask and I like to be fancy, a fleece blanket just in case I want a nap for some reason, secret tools for secret hobby with @J Alynn, definitely also not lye or tarps also for that hobby, emergency glove compartment Trader Joe’s cherry pomegranate pop-tart.

You forgot the fossilized madeleine that fell out of a three-pack from Starbucks two Summers ago.

I was a band director for 24 years…now an asst principal…both of my kids are in band. I’m still a musician…but also an outdoor enthusiast. So, I’ll have a mix of tubas, camping gear, guitars, amps, a dog…sometimes towing a trailer full of high school band equipment or my camper (Keystone 219BH). Plus whatever my wife finds at Target.
