SAFETY RATING - COLLISSION PHISYCAL

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.

Hope its not too too late in the development stages,
but the priority considerations for me are the physical safety characteristics of a vehicle.
I would love to see equal to; or better than Subaru and Toyota.
Crash test (front collision and side impact) -- side impact door beams,
Airbags a plenty,
Roll cage - (similar to wrangler) construction -
All the physical safety stuff - all the electronic features are nice - but i am more concerned with the actual crash test ratings.
I would love to know that I am in the safest vehicle on the road.

and, ....less vital....but highly important to me is visibility all the way around ......
Although the back windows (passenger/driver) are cute, I would much prefer more glass (similar to the 80's series landcruiser (1990-1997))
This would mean smaller body panels at the rear corners of the vehicle and more glass....

as a beauty bonus... ... i would love to see a roll and pitch angle indicator as an added offroad feature.
(side note - front and rear lockers, and sway bar disconnect are mandatory - a deal breaker for me if those get dropped / not offered)
Also would like to see a better ground clearance range (+15 inches) to at or beat the Rivian of course.

Feel free to reach out ! I would love to explain or provide more detail if anyone wants more info.....

Good news on the EV front, since you mentioned Subaru (which really doesn't have a vehicle competing in the same category, per se) and Toyota: https://insideevs.com/news/744838/2025-rivian-r1s-top-safety-pick-plus-iihs-rating/

The updated Rivian R1S is now the safest large SUV on American roads, according to the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). During the latest crash testing session, the 2025 R1S got a Top Safety Pick+ rating, the highest possible for a production vehicle that goes through the IIHS testing procedure.

Front and rear lockers, as well as sway bar disconnect are confirmed.

Rear lockers is standard, front is in off-road package. Unclear how the sway bar disconnects are offered (standard, or in a package).

Very informative, hope the Scout meets or surpasses those results. Thank you for the reply and information.

I'm curious how airbags and crash safety will be implemented for bench seat configurations and the large screen in the center right in front of the middle passenger.

I've wondered the same thing. Hopefully their engineers can figure it out without altering the dash design too much.

Seems easier to just come out of the dash above the screen. This is how my FJ Cruiser works on the passenger side. Airbag panel faces up, but the airbag comes out and over the dash hump and down towards the passenger's knees.

Hopefully the mounting bracket on top of the dash won't interfere.
