More Pondering

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.

One of the questions I received from my wife recently, given her growing interest in the new Scout Traveler, is as follows. She watched the captivating commercial where a woman calls her father and exclaims, “Dad, we did it! We made a new Scout!” Subsequently, she hops into the Traveler and drives off. My wife, who stands at 5’5”, inquired about my estimation of the woman’s height in the video, she seems tall. My wife is concerned that the Traveler may pose a challenge in terms of accessibility.

We have the Hey Lady Scouts thread going where we have been posing questions just like this for SM. It would be great to have her join us!

That’s what steps are for 🤣. She is shorter because I had commented on that to Jamie at the reveal after seeing it. I told him if she’s 5’-8” or so that’s a very tall truck but in person it’s not over the top. The prototype has the 35’s and I think Jamie noted a bit of off road suspension but she will want running boards or step tubes

Now I have a question. The diagram with the measurements. Is that the measurements of the prototypes or the measurements of what the vehicles will be? Or both?

Still not sure where we are getting two different sizes. It was noted the prototype has 35’s and I think it was noted so off road suspension, both of which would make vehicle(s) taller but I’ve heard nothing about two different sizes

That would be very helpful. We will have to see how many trims have the availability of air suspension. Hopefully not requiring the highest trim only.
I hope not too. Packaging is a lot easier for manufacturers, but they also appear to talk about us being able to customize a lot of details on the website with colors and materials. So I will remain optimistic until I hear otherwise.

In a perfect world I can order one with all the offroad accoutrements, a solid roof, and air suspension.

My 2004 Lexus GX470 has air suspension in the rear that I can raise or lower. We can only hope that in 2027 it can be considered a more mainstream option.
